The use of aluminum alloys for lightweighting in the automotive industry is becoming widespread. In this study, Johnson–Cook plasticity and damage model parameters were determined to predict the plasticity and damage behavior of 6181A-T4 sheet material ...

Tensile deformation behavior of TRIP-aided bainitic ferrite steel in the post-necking strain region
Transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) steels present a remarkable balance of strength and ductility. However, their post-necking hardening behavior, which is required for press-forming and automobile crash simulation, is unreliable because of their ...

Damage and fracture behavior of a metal sheet under in-plane compression–shear deformation
Increasing demands for lightweight manufacturing accelerate the application of lightweight materials in the transportation, aviation, and power industries. High-strength steel is a popular candidate among various lightweight materials.

The Sagittarius stream and halo triaxiality [PDF]
We present a mass model for the Milky Way, which is fit to observations of the Sagittarius stream together with constraints derived from a wide range of photometric and kinematic data. The model comprises a Sérsic bulge, an exponential disk, and an Einasto halo.

The present study investigates how the choice of characterization test and the composition of the stress state in terms of tension and shear can produce a non-unique failure locus in terms of stress triaxiality under plane stress conditions.

Observable properties of E0 triaxial galaxies - A test for triaxiality
It is shown that most triaxial galaxies oriented in space to appear as E0 galaxies should have observable rotation velocities. By projecting Levison and Richstone's (1987) triaxial models so that they look like E0s, it was found that v/sigma can be as large as 1.0.

Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Plasticity Improvement of Ball-Spun Magnesium Alloy Tube Based on Stress Triaxiality
The effects of thickness reduction, feed ratio, and ball diameter, and their coupling effects, on the average relative stress triaxiality during spinning are discussed via simulation results.

GALACTIC WARPS IN TRIAXIAL HALOS [PDF]
We study the behaviors of galactic disks in triaxial halos both numerically and analytically to see if warps can be excited and sustained in triaxial potentials. We consider the following two scenarios: 1) galactic disks that are initially tilted relative to the equatorial plane of the halo (for a pedagogical purpose), and 2) tilted infall of dark ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.
