Tailoring the Properties of Functional Materials With N‐Oxides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The properties of materials bearing N‐oxide groups are often dominated by the polar N+─O− bond. It provides hydrophilicity, selective ion‐binding, electric conductivity, or antifouling properties. Many of the underlying mechanisms have only recently been discovered, and the interest in N‐oxide materials is rapidly growing.

Molecular docking analysis of s-triazine derivatives targeting urate oxidase: Implications for antifungal activity against Aspergillus flavus [PDF]

open access: yesActa Periodica Technologica
Estimation of the antifungal activity of compounds is a complex task. Besides experimental analysis, it includes quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) and molecular docking approaches, as in silico methods in the prediction of biological ...

Iridium(iii) complexes of 1,2,4-triazines as potential bioorthogonal reagents: metal coordination facilitates luminogenic reaction with strained cyclooctynes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper we describe unprecedented Ir(III) complexes of 5-(2-pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazine and their reactivity towards the strained cyclooctyne BCN. The coordination of a 1,2,4-triazine ring to an iridium(III) ion drastically increases the speed of the ...

Harmonizing the Pyrene and Ether Groups in Covalent Triazine Polymers for Highly Effective H2O2 Photosynthesis via One‐Step Two‐Electron Oxygen Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The pyrene and ether groups are incorporated into the covalent triazine polymer (CTP) structure. The synergistic effect of the two functional groups endows CTP with better electron transfer, light absorption, and oxygen activation properties. An impressive apparent quantum yield (13.2% @420 nm) and a remarkable solar‐to‐chemical conversion efficiency ...

Synergistic Fluorine and Cyanide Co‐Modification to Reinforce Photoinduced Excitons Formation and Transfer for Efficient CO2 Photoreduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An advanced F‐doped and ─CN group co‐modified FCCN is developed. Due to the synergistic effects of co‐modification in promoting photogenerated exciton generation, enhancing charge kinetics, expanding active interfacial areas, and optimizing CO2 interfacial reactions, the FCCN photocatalyst demonstrates excellent catalytic performance and high ...

Sustainable Triazine-Based Dehydro-Condensation Agents for Amide Synthesis

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Conventional methods employed today for the synthesis of amides often lack of economic and environmental sustainability. Triazine-derived quaternary ammonium salts, e.g., 4-(4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-4-methylmorpholinium chloride (DMTMM(Cl ...

High‐Rate FA‐Based Co‐Evaporated Perovskites: Understanding Rate Limitations and Practical Considerations to Overcome Their Impact

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Vacuum‐based deposition is promising for perovskite solar cells to be successfully commercialized. However, co‐evaporation, the most common vapor phase deposition technique, suffers from very low deposition rates. In this work, we reveal that high deposition rates can lead to carbon flakes depositing into the perovskite absorber layers due to material ...

Development of a Mild and Versatile Directed Cycloaddition Approach to Pyridines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The aza-Diels–Alder cycloaddition of 1,2,4-triazines with alkynes offers a rapid and convenient method for the synthesis of highly substituted pyridines, but often requires harsh conditions and long reaction times.

Bioinspired Bromination Enables Extensible, Strain‐Stiffening Resilin Peptide Scaffolds with Tunable Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioinspired bromination of a resilin‐derived peptide enables the fabrication of electrospun nanofibrous scaffolds that uniquely combine strain‐stiffening elasticity, proteolytic stability, and antioxidant functionality. These brominated peptide–gelatin hybrids mimic the extensibility of natural elastomers, demonstrating tunable mechanical resilience ...
