Requirement of group I lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase for turnover of chitinous cuticle during moulting in two forest pest beetles, Monochamus alternatus and Psacothea hilaris

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 115-125, April 2026.
Group I LPMO15‐1 cDNAs from two economically important forest insect pests, M. alternatus and P. hilaris, were cloned. MaLPMO15‐1 and PhLPMO15‐1 show a similar pattern of expression during late stages of development. RNAi for LPMO15‐1 causes failure of adult eclosion in both M. alternatus and P. hilaris.

Development of a suitable rearing media for Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesJulius-Kühn-Archiv, 2018
Tribolium castaneum is a serious pest of cereal flour and flour-based products, and thus a test insect in storedproduct research. The composition of the rearing medium affects the progeny production, their performance and handling efficacy. The objective

Effect of temperature on growth and development of rice weevil [Sitophilus oryzae (L.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)] on polished rice

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Rice weevils (Sitophilus oryzae), a major storage pest, cause both qualitative and quantitative losses of stored grains. Normally, chemical insecticide along with fumigation is practiced for the management, but it creates health hazards. So, this study investigates the effects of temperature and duration of exposure on rice weevils. Completely

Preferences of the Red Flour Beetle, Tribolium castaneum, for Nutritionally Different Dog Foods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Triboliumcastaneum, known as the red flour beetle (RFB)is a common pest of stored grain and milled grain products.Thisresearch studied how RFBs orient to and lay eggs in their standard flour diet and in two kinds of dog food.We tested whether RFBs have a

Histone deacetylase 1 suppresses Krüppel homolog 1 gene expression and influences juvenile hormone action in Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2019
Significance Juvenile hormone (JH) regulates many processes in insects, and JH mimics are used to control them. However, not much is known about the epigenetic regulation of JH action. Histone deacetylases (HDACs) are known to modulate hormone action. We
