Productivity of Inbred Strains of Tribolium Confusum and Tribolium Castaneum

Ecology, 1964
Studies of the variation in productivity in inbred strains of Tribolium confusum and Tribolium castaneum were undertaken to determine the effects of inbreeding on different strains of common ancestry. Six strains of each species were tested after eight to ten generations of inbreeding by full sibling crosses.

Radiosensitivity Studies of X-Irradiated Tribolium castaneum Larvae

Radiation Research, 1969
YANG, TRACY C. H., AND DUCOFF, HOWARD S. Radiosensitivity Studies of X-irradiated Tribolium castaneum Larvae. Radiation Res. 39, 643-654 (1969). The general pattern of the time course of survival of Tribolium castaneum larvae, irradiated at different ages (from 2 to 17 days old), was similar when exposures from 2.0 to 5.0 kR were used. Mortality during

Mutational variance for pupa weight in Tribolium castaneum

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1989
Directional selection for heavier pupa weight in Tribolium castaneum was practiced for 18 generations in two replicates of an inbred line, each separately maintained in small population cages for more than 90 generations. Mutational variance was estimated in two ways, based on Hill's (1982a) prediction equation for response to directional selection ...

Sturdy cycles in the chaotic Tribolium castaneum data series

Theoretical Population Biology, 2005
Because of the inherent discreteness of individuals, population dynamical models must be discrete variable systems. In case of strong nonlinearity, such systems interacting with noise can generate a great variety of patterns from nearly periodic behavior through complex combination of nearly periodic and chaotic patterns to noisy chaotic time series ...

The karyosphere capsule in Tribolium castaneum oocytes

Cell and Tissue Biology, 2014
Structure and composition of the karyosphere (karyosome) capsule were studied in the oocytes of a laboratory insect, Tribolium castaneum, with the use of electron microscopy and immunoelectron cytochemistry. Basing on the study of nuclear structure dynamics, we distinguished 8 stages that characterize the period of oocyte growth. At the diplotene stage,

Effect of Nicotiana tabacum on Tribolium castaneum

International Journal of Pharmacognosy, 1995
AbstractThe alkaloid-containing fraction obtained from Nicotiana tabacum was tested for its insecticidal and phagodeter-rent activities against the Red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum. Treatment of the larvae with concentrations ranging from 20000 to 50000 ppm resulted in larval mortality and juvenomimetic effects.

Development of Tribolium castaneum on dust

2018
Stored product pests cause economic and qualitative losses in warehouses and food industry where they find favorable environmental condition and rearing media. Modern control techniques are based on IPM, which considers prevention as an important tool, such as careful cleaning, in order to hinder pests. Nevertheless, periodic cleanings in high areas of
