Tribological Behavior of Nanocrystalline Nickel

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2009
During the last decade, an intensive investigative effort around the globe has been devoted to the understanding of scale effects on materials properties. In spite of their importance, nanoscale effects on tribological properties have attracted little attention.

Tribological Behavior of Distaloy DC Components

Materials Science Forum, 2017
A sintered material based on pre-alloyed powders (Fe-Ni-Mo) is expansively applied in the automotive industry and Distaloy is today the most widely used raw material worldwide for the production of complex, precise, high strength PM machine parts. In this study a diffusion bonded powder type of Distaloy DC (Fe-2 wt. % Ni-1.5 wt.

Tribological behavior of fluoroparaffin coatings

Journal of Friction and Wear, 2015
In order to estimate the tribological effectiveness of fluoroparaffin coatings, the coefficient of frictions of the copper disk–steel pin friction pair were measured on samples with lubricants. The dependence of the coefficient of friction on the molecular weight of fluoroparaffins has been found; a reduction with an increase in the molecular weight ...

Tribological behaviors and mechanisms of Ti3AlC2

Tribology Letters, 2007
Tribological behaviors and the relevant mechanism of a highly pure polycrystalline bulk Ti3AlC2 sliding dryly against a low carbon steel disk were investigated. The tribological tests were carried out using a block-on-disk type high-speed friction tester, at the sliding speeds of 20–60 m/s under a normal pressure of 0.8 MPa. The results showed that the

Insight into the Tribological Behavior of Liposomes in Artificial Joints

Langmuir, 2016
Liposomes are widely used in drug delivery and gene therapy, and their new role as boundary lubricant in natural/artificial joints has been found in recent years. In this study, the tribological properties of liposomes on titanium alloy (Ti6Al4 V)/UHMWPE interface were studied by a ball-on-disc tribometer.

Fullerene-like MoS2 Nanoparticles and Their Tribological Behavior

Tribology Letters, 2009
Using a new quartz-made reactor, large amounts of fullerene-like (IF) MoS2 nanoparticles were synthesized by reacting MoO3 vapor with H2S in a reducing atmosphere. The nanoparticles were found to be of high crystalline order; with an average size of 70 nm and consist of more than 30 closed shells.

Adjustable Tribological Behavior of Glucose-Sensitive Hydrogels

Langmuir, 2018
Stimuli-responsive hydrogels have been considered to have various applications in numerous fields. In the present work, a double-network (DN) hydrogel has been synthesized. The copolymers of 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS) and acrylamide (AM) [P(AMPS- co-AM)] are prepared as the 1st network and poly(acrylic acid) as the 2nd network ...

Tribological Behavior

1993
Abstract This article reviews two important subjects relevant to the tribological behavior of aluminum alloys. First, it describes the properties and applications of wear-resistant aluminum-silicon alloys. Second, the article examines the use of aluminum-base alloys for sliding bearings.

Tribological Behavior of Polyurethane Immersed in Acidic Solution

Tribology Transactions, 2012
Polyurethane (PU) samples were immersed in a 1 M HCl solution for different durations from 0 to 90 days to investigate the influence of immersion time on the tribological performance of the samples. The effects of thermal, mechanical, and surface properties of the PU on its tribological performance were also investigated with respect to immersion time.

Tribological Behavior of Bronze Alloys with Solid Lubricants

Key Engineering Materials, 2012
Lead containing bronzes are widely used as bearings, bushings and sliding plates. Lead is a heavy metal and known to be harmful to people and environment, but currently no feasible substitute material exists in many engineering applications. The ecological considerations in recent years have led to restrictions by the European Commission on the use of ...
