In Situ Stress‐Dispersing Hydrogel Millispheres via Load Redistribution to Restore Nucleus Pulposus Metabolic Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Local stress concentration disrupts metabolic homeostasis and induces inflammation in the nucleus pulposus (NP), thereby accelerating intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). A biomimetic HA/ChS hydrogel millimeter sphere (ChS@HM) is developed to enable synergistic stress dispersion and sustained hydration lubrication.

Tribological Behavior of Polymers and Polymer Composites

open access: yes, 2021
This chapter means to explain the tribological behavior of polymer-based materials, to support a beneficial introducing of those materials in actual applications based on test campaigns and their results. Generally, the designers have to take into consideration a set of tribological parameters, not only one, including friction coefficient, wear ...

Spatiotemporal Regulation of Hierarchical Assembly of Hydroxyapatite for Enamel Remineralization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Biomimetic repair exhibits unique advantages for enamel regeneration compared with conventional clinical treatments. An enzymatic mineralization system (EMS) is developed, where the resulting HAP nanorods hierarchically assemble into a highly ordered structure on the enamel surface through the spatiotemporal modulation of interfacial energies of ...

Numerical study of surface texturing for improving tribological properties of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene

open access: yesBiosurface and Biotribology, 2015
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) has been used in total joint arthroplasty for over 50 years. Conventionally, smooth UHMWPE surfaces are used for total joint replacements; however, smooth surface contacts have been shown to be inadequate

Electrokinetic Stabilization of Formation Fines Using Surface Modified Polymer Silica Nanocomposites During Low Salinity Water Flooding for Enhanced Oil Recovery

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fines migration induced by low salinity water flooding severely impairs reservoir permeability and injectivity presenting a critical challenge in enhanced oil recovery. This study aims to synthesize and evaluate a surface‐modified polymer‐silica nanocomposite to mitigate clay mobilization and preserve the hydrodynamic capacity of porous media.

Effects of hybrid metal oxide nanoparticles on the tribological and emission attributes of algae‐derived biofuel in compression ignition engines

open access: yesEnvironmental Progress &Sustainable Energy, EarlyView.
Abstract The growing demand for sustainable fuels has accelerated the development of algae‐derived biodiesel for compression‐ignition engines. In this study, Chlorella vulgaris methyl ester (AME) exhibited physicochemical properties comparable to diesel and satisfied ASTM D6751 fuel quality requirements, making it suitable for blending.
