Preliminary Study of the Effect of Micro-Scale Dimple Size on Friction and Wear under Oil-Lubricated Sliding Contact

open access: yesTribology Online, 2011
One of the conclusively presumed effects of micro-scale dimples under oil-lubricated conditions is that can serve as oil reservoirs and play a role in promoting the retention of a lubricating film.

A Biomimetic Lubricant Captures Hyaluronic Acid In Situ to Regenerate Cartilage: From Bench to Bedside

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
(a) The outstanding lubricative properties of natural articular cartilage arise from a composite coating composed of HA, lubricin, and phospholipids at its surface. Notably, lubricin facilitates the enrichment of synovial HA onto cartilage surfaces, and HA complexes with phospholipids, a key component to maintain extremely low friction under high ...

The Tribological Properties of Multi-Layered Graphene as Additives of PAO2 Oil in Steel–Steel Contacts

open access: yesLubricants, 2016
Multi-layered graphene was prepared by supercritical CO2 exfoliation of graphite. As the additives of polyalphaolefin-2 (PAO2) oil, its tribological properties were investigated using four-ball test method. The friction reduction and anti-wear ability of

In Situ Stress‐Dispersing Hydrogel Millispheres via Load Redistribution to Restore Nucleus Pulposus Metabolic Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Local stress concentration disrupts metabolic homeostasis and induces inflammation in the nucleus pulposus (NP), thereby accelerating intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). A biomimetic HA/ChS hydrogel millimeter sphere (ChS@HM) is developed to enable synergistic stress dispersion and sustained hydration lubrication.

Integrated Hydrophilic Interdigitated Network for Silicone Rubber via a Gradient Polarity Modification Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work overcomes the long‐standing challenge of hydrophilic modification of silicone rubber via a gradient polarity modification strategy. By constructing a hydrophilic interpenetrating network within cured SR, simultaneous surface‐to‐bulk modification is achieved while enabling monitoring through a Eu3+ complex fluorescent tracer.

Synthesis of trimethylolpropane trioleate by using stannous oxalate catalyst

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract This study was conducted to synthesize trimethylolpropane trioleate (TMPTO) using a stannous oxalate catalyst and investigate the dependence of the esterification rate on reaction variables. The highest esterification rate of approximately 99% was achieved at a 2.75:1 oleic acid/trimethylolpropane, 1.5% catalyst amount, 180°C reaction ...
