Exploring the Tribological Properties of 3D Printed Polymer Composites: An Experimental Study

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 8, Page 6840-6858, 20 April 2026.
Tribological pin‐on‐disc testing of FDM‐manufactured pins. Pins made from PLA, TPU, bronze‐filled PLA (BRO), and their combinations were tested against a SAE 1020 steel disc to evaluate friction, wear, and surface morphology. ABSTRACT In recent years, additive manufacturing, especially 3D printing, has been gaining more space in the production of parts

Sliding Wear Performance of Natural Fiber–Reinforced Polymer Matrix Composites

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal
While synthetic fiber composites offer some positive environmental attributes, researchers are trying to explore natural fiber composites (NFCs) due to the high cost and pollution associated with their production.

Lubrication with sputtered MoS2 films: Principles, operation, limitations [PDF]

open access: yes
The present practices, limitations, and understanding of thin sputtered MoS2 films are reviewed. Sputtered MoS2 films can exhibit remarkable tribological properties such as ultralow friction coefficients (0.01) and enhanced wear lives (millions of cycles)

Tribological properties of Mo6S3I6 nanowires

open access: yes, 2007
A new nanowire-like material with the chemical formula Mo6S3I6 was studied as an additive in a synthetic base oil, a polyalphaolefin (PAO). This material presents interesting friction reducing properties, friction coefficient reaching a value of 0.04 in boundary lubrication.

Tribological characteristics of silicon carbide whisker-reinforced alumina at elevated temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes
The enhanced fracture toughness of whisker reinforced ceramics makes them attractive candidates for sliding components of advanced hear engines. Examples include piston rings and valve stems for Stirling engines and other low heat rejection devices ...

TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS

open access: yesFiabilitate şi Durabilitate, 2016
The composite materials are compound of two or more constituents having a distinct interface separating them and which cannot be obtained by any constituent working individually. This paper presents the researches in the area of investigation of the mechanical and tribological properties of the composite materials.
