Influence of an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere on Diamond‐Single‐Grain Scratching of Ti–6Al–4V
Single‐grain scratching of Ti–6Al–4V is investigated under controlled, oxygen‐free, and ambient atmospheres using a novel experimental setup with in situ high‐speed imaging. The approach enables direct observation of chip formation and adhesion under suppressed oxidation.

Tribological behaviour of the low and high viscosity peek at various testing scales [PDF]
Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) has become most attractive as a sliding bearing material in industrial applications, due to its excellent thermal stability, good friction and wear resistance. These properties promote the material to be used in so called high

Assessing Altered Coating Adhesion on Plasma‐Deoxidized Surfaces Under Oxygen‐Free Conditions
This study demonstrates the effectiveness of atmospheric pressure plasma pretreatment in modifying silicon and stainless steel surfaces to improve adhesion. Argon‐hydrogen plasma increases surface roughness and improves adhesion strength, whereas pure argon results in smoother surfaces and structural changes.

Speed and Atmosphere Influences on Nanotribological Properties of NbSe2 [PDF]
Nanotribological properties of NbSe2 are studied using an atomic friction force microscope. The friction force is measured as a function of normal load and scan speeds ranging from 10 nm s−1 to 40 μm s−1 under two atmospheres (air and argon).

Cr2C3–NiCr VPS thermal spray coatings as candidate for chromium replacement [PDF]
The present investigation has been carried out with the aim of determining the tribological behavior of a VPS chromium carbide coating both in the as-deposited and heat-treated conditions. A commercial powder of Cr2C3–25% NiCr was sprayed employing a VPS

Tribological Properties of Nitrate Graphite Foils
This study investigates the tribological properties of graphite foils (GF) with densities of 1.0, 1.3, and 1.6 g/cm3, produced from purified natural graphite of different particle sizes (40–80 μm, 160–200 μm, >500 μm). Surface roughness was measured after cold rolling and friction testing at static (0.001 mm/s) and dynamic conditions (0.1 Hz and 1 ...
