Moment arm-angle functions (MA-a-functions) are commonly used to estimate in vivo muscle forces in humans. However, different MA-a-functions might not only influence the magnitude of the estimated muscle forces but also change the shape of the muscle’s ...

Pemanasan Fisik Menurunkan Kejadian Kram Otot Triceps Surae pada Atlet Renang
Latar Belakang: Olah raga renang melibatkan sebagian besar anggota gerak. Berenang tanpa persiapan sebelumnya dapat mengakibatkan kram otot. Pemanasan fisik yang kurang optimal dan gaya berenang merupakan risiko dari kram otot..

Comparative Triceps Surae Morphology in Primates: A Review [PDF]
Primate locomotor evolution, particularly the evolution of bipedalism, is often examined through morphological studies. Many of these studies have examined the uniqueness of the primate forelimb, and others have examined the primate hip and thigh. Few data exist, however, regarding the myology and function of the leg muscles, even though the ankle ...

OBJECTIVE To determine the immediate efficacy of a single session of deep dry needling (DDN) vs ischemic compression (ICT) in a latent myofascial trigger point (MTrP) of the shortened triceps surae from triathletes for ankle dorsiflexion and ...

Stretch reflexes of triceps surae in normal man. [PDF]
In order to learn more about stretch reflex behaviour of triceps surae, normal human subjects sat in a chair with one foot on a platform attached to a torque motor that produced phasic dorsiflexion displacements on the ankle. EMG activity was recorded from triceps surae and responses were obtained for various conditions.

The functional role of the triceps surae muscle during human locomotion. [PDF]
AimDespite numerous studies addressing the issue, it remains unclear whether the triceps surae muscle group generates forward propulsive force during gait, commonly identified as 'push-off'.

An isovelocity dynamometer method to determine monoarticular and biarticular muscle parameters [PDF]
This study aimed to determine whether subject-specific individual muscle models for the ankle plantar flexors could be obtained from single joint isometric and isovelocity maximum torque measurements in combination with a model of plantar flexion ...

Triceps surae muscle–subtendon interaction differs between young and older adults
Background: Mechanical power generated via triceps surae muscle-tendon interaction during walking is important for walking performance. This interaction is made complex by distinct “subtendons” arising from the lateral and medial gastrocnemius (GAS) and ...

Background: The mobility of the first metatarsophalangeal joint (I MPTJ) has been related to the proper windlass mechanism and the triceps surae during the heel-off phase of running gait; the orthopedic treatment of the I MPTJ restriction has been made ...

Soleus Muscle as a Surrogate for Health Status in Human Heart Failure [PDF]
We propose the hypothesis that soleus muscle function may provide a surrogate measure of functional capacity in patients with heart failure. We summarize literature pertaining to skeletal muscle as a locus of fatigue and present our recent findings ...
