The recent isolation of an atoxigenic strain of Aspergillus flavus (Link) (Eurotiales: Trichocomaceae), which was virulent to all stages of Xylosandrus compactus (Eichhoff) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) has generated interest to investigate virulence of the entomopathogenic fungus against other crop pests, and how it compares with established commercial ...

A novel entomopathogenic fungus of Locusta migratoria was identified as Aspergillus oryzae using a comparative sequence analysis of the internal transcribed spacer regions, aflatoxin B1 detection and morphological analysis. The fungus isolated from a dead locust collected in northwestern China was found to be pathogenic to the insect.

This study isolated and evaluated virulence of fungal entomopathogens of Xylosandrus compactus - an important pest of Robusta coffee in Sub-Saharan Africa. A survey was conducted in five farming systems in Uganda to isolate entomopathogens associated with X. compactus. Four fungal isolates were screened for virulence against X.

Two new species and one new ecotype record of Talaromyces (Trichocomaceae, Eurotiales) are described and illustrated from the rhizospheric soil of Coriaria nepalensis from Kunyang phosphate mining area in Yunnan Province, China. The new species possess colony, conidiophore and conidial characteristics that fit within the generic concept of Talaromyces.

Talaromyces is a monophyletic genus of microscopic fungi which contain a large number of species, including clinically and biotechnologically significant ones. Since 2011 when species of Penicillium subg. Biverticillium were transferred to a Talaromyces, interest in the genus has grown significantly, a large number of new species have been described ...

Revealing relationships in Trichocomaceae, with emphasis on Penicillium
2013The majority of Trichocomaceae are saprobes and have diverse physiological properties. They are capable of growing under extreme conditions, such as extremely low water activities, low temperatures (psychrotolerant), high temperatures (thermotolerant), low acidity levels and/or low oxygen levels.
