Variation in seed‐borne microbial communities of Metrosideros excelsa Sol. ex Gaertn. with consequences for germination success

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Botany, Volume 63, Issue 5, Page 1981-2004, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Seed endophytic bacteria and fungi are co‐dispersed with seeds and are likely founders of the initial endophytic microbiome in developing seedlings. The effects of the seed microbiome on seedling survival and growth are of particular interest for their roles in protection against pathogens and plant resistance to environmental stress.

Image_7_In situ Linkage of Fungal and Bacterial Proliferation to Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion in B20 Biodiesel Storage Tanks.TIF

open access: yes, 2020
Renewable fuels hold great promise for the future yet their susceptibility to biodegradation and subsequent corrosion represents a challenge that needs to be directly assessed. Biodiesel is a renewable fuel that is widely used as a substitute or extender

Warming‐Induced Effects on Microbial Communities and Nitrogen Cycling Capacity in Tundra Litter Are Modulated by Herb Abundance and Litter Quality

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 31, Issue 11, November 2025.
Climate warming affects tundra vegetation, with implications for plant litter and associated bacterial and fungal communities. This study examined litter bacterial and fungal communities and their nitrogen (N) cycling potential across 16 long‐term warming experiments in arctic and alpine tundra.

The Interplay between the Gut and Ketogenic Diets in Health and Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 36, September 25, 2025.
This review synthesizes current knowledge on the interaction between ketogenic diets and the gut, covering gut physiology, intestinal immunity, and the gut microbiome. It explores innovative methods for tailoring the diet to maximize benefits while reducing side effects. Emphasis is placed on gut‐mediated mechanisms as a critical interface between diet

Aspergillus terreus (Trichocomaceae): A Natural, Eco-Friendly Mycoinsecticide for Control of Malaria, Filariasis, Dengue Vectors and Its Toxicity Assessment Against an Aquatic Model Organism Artemia nauplii [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2018
Vector-borne diseases like malaria, filariasis, and dengue are transmitted by mosquitoes and they cause global mortality and morbidity due to an increased resistance against commercial insecticides. The present study was aimed to evaluate the neurobehavioral toxicity, knock-down effect, histopathology, ovicidal, adulticidal, and smoke toxicity effect ...

Exploring the Gut and Oral Microbiomes in Psychoactive Substance Use: A Scoping Review of Clinical Studies

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 169, Issue 7, July 2025.
Substance use disorders are linked to high treatment dropout rates and limited therapeutic options. Clinical studies show that substance use disrupts gut and oral microbiomes, decreasing beneficial bacteria and increasing proinflammatory and opportunistic microbes.
