Thymol Chemotype Thymus vulgaris L. Hydrolate: Volatile Chemical Fraction Composition and Antimicrobial Activity Against Bacterial and Fungal Pathogens

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 6, June 2026.
Phytochemistry and bioactivity of thymol chemotype Thymus vulgaris L. hydrolate. ABSTRACT The increasing prevalence of antimicrobial resistance necessitates the development of alternative antimicrobial agents derived from natural sources. This study evaluated the volatile chemical profile and antimicrobial activity of a thymol‐containing hydrolate ...

Integrating Synthetic Community With Chemical Fungicide Improves the Control of Rhizoctonia Bare Patch Disease in Wheat

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The soil borne pathogen Rhizoctonia solani AG8 causes Rhizoctonia bare patch disease, a major constraint on global wheat production, particularly in no‐ or minimal ‐till systems. Current control strategies such as crop rotation, chemical fungicides, and tillage provide only partial protection, while fungicides can accelerate resistance ...

Diversity, Composition and Resilience of the Root Microbiome of Tomato Plants in a Hydroponic Rockwool System

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 3, June 2026.
The root microbiome of tomatoes in hydroponic rockwool was species‐rich but dominated by a few abundant organisms. Treatment with a Trichoderma‐based biocontrol product did not perturb the bacterial microbiome. Composition and diversity of the bacterial community changed over the sampling period in both treated and control samples.
