Trichodinids and monogeneans infestation among Nile tilapia hatcheries in Egypt: prevalence, therapeutic and prophylactic treatments

Aquaculture International, 2020
The current study aimed to investigate the most prevalent ectoparasites among some Egyptian tilapia hatcheries and find out the appropriate therapeutic and prophylactic doses. For that, 500 Nile tilapia fry weighing 0.02 g were collected from several hatcheries at Sharkia Governorate, Egypt, over the period of April to September 2017, examined for the ...

Trichodinid (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) Infections in Perch (Perca fluviatilis) Experimentally Exposed to Pulp and Paper Mill Effluents

Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2011
Wild-caught European perch (Perca fluviatilis) were exposed in the laboratory to untreated bleached pulp and paper mill effluent in two separate experiments. The first experiment was conducted at 7-8°C using effluent concentrations of 5 and 10%, and the second experiment was conducted at ambient river temperature of 4-20°C using an effluent ...

The salinity tolerance of trichodinids (Protozoa) parasitic on the Three‐spined stickleback Gasterosteus aculeatus

Journal of Zoology, 1974
Sticklebacks from a variety of habitats have been examined for trichodinids. Two species of trichodinid were found on fish at every site. They were identified as Trichodina domerguei subsp. domerguei and T. tenuidens, and these identifications are discussed in relation to previous observations by other workers.

Trichodinids (Ciliophora : Trichodinidae) from native and exotic Australian freshwater fishes

2005
There are very few data on trichodinids of freshwater fishes in Australia. 2003 fishes were surveyed across Eastern Australia to investigate the diversity of trichodinids present, to determine which species have been introduced with exotic fishes and to determine the extent to which these species have crossed into native fish Populations.

A Contribution to the Systematics and Morphology of Endoparasitic Trichodinids from Amphibians, with a Proposal of Uniform Specific Characteristics

The Journal of Protozoology, 1958
SYNOPSIS. Trichodina urinicola was found in newts, Triturus cristatus and T. taeniatus, in three localities in Czechoslovakia. The ciliate populations showed important differences on the basis of which they were separated as three new forms of this species: T. urinicola f. typica, T. urinicola f.
