BIOLOGY OF TRICHOGRAMMA BREVICAPILLUM

Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 1982
The biology of Trichogramma brevicapillum Pinto & Platner (Hymenoptera, Trichogrammatidae) reared on eggs of Trichoplusia ni (Hübner) (Lepidoptera), and the influence of some abiotic and biotic conditions on the parasitization strategy of the adults were studied. Egg, larva, prepupa, and pupa are described. Development of these stages lasted ca.

Is Trichogramma Becoming A Fad?

Journal of Economic Entomology, 1931
Unless a conservative attitude is maintained biological control can easily become quackery. Some of the work with Trichogramma seems to be tending in this direction. It is pointed out that the control of pests by the use of Trichogramma is a complicated problem, and until this is fully appreciated there is little prospect of sound conclusions being ...

Transfer of a parthenogenesis-inducing Wolbachia endosymbiont derived from Trichogramma dendrolimi into Trichogramma evanescens

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 2013
Wolbachia, which are maternally transmitted endosymbionts, are considered to have moved horizontally between invertebrate hosts multiple times. However, it is not well understood how easily Wolbachia are transmitted horizontally between different hosts and how frequently horizontally-transmitted Wolbachia become established in their new hosts.

Characterisation of the arrestment responses of Trichogramma evanescens

Oecologia, 1986
Contact kairomones and oviposition in a host egg stimulated arrestment behaviour in Trichogramma evanescens, characterised by a reduction in walking speed and increased turning. Previous oviposition experience did not influence a parasitoid's response to contact kairomones, but successive encounters with kairomone patches resulted in parasitoids ...

Behavior of Trichogramma in Field Liberations

Journal of Economic Entomology, 1932
Trichogramma ( T. minutum ) liberated in a block of 121 trees without parasites dispersed in all directions and resulted in 50 per cent parasitism. One other orchard with low parasitism increased 53 per cent after a single liberation. A third orchard having high natural parasitism was not increased by large liberations.
