ABSTRACT Agropastoralism has been a widespread subsistence strategy in Central Asia from prehistory to the present. While significant research has aimed at understanding past agropastoral communities in the region, reconstructing a generalized economic model remains challenging due to the complex topographic and ecological conditions, as well as its ...

Cannabis has been used by humans for millennia, resulting in diverse landraces and uses. Its complex legal status and economic importance make sampling wild‐growing populations difficult, limiting past studies to modern cultivars with low genetic diversity. Our research provides crucial insights into the genetic diversity of wild‐growing and cultivated

Fall armyworm (FAW) preferred ovipositing on vegetative‐stage soybeans. While ‘mother knows best’ may not apply in soybean‐FAW system, muffled cues in the reproductive stage could positively influence host success. Abstract BACKGROUND While the mother knows best/preference performance hypothesis has been well tested in natural ecosystems, how these ...

Indirect plant defense may provide economically important pest suppression in sorghum
Laboratory measures of sorghum direct and indirect plant resistance traits aligned with natural enemy recruitment and pest suppression in the field. Abstract BACKGROUND A promising strategy to optimize biological control of insect pests is selecting crop varieties with indirect defense traits.

Elevated CO2 Increases the Canopy Temperature of Mature Quercus robur (Pedunculate Oak)
We investigated the impact of high atmospheric CO2, similar to that predicted for 2050, on tree canopy temperature dynamics of mature pedunculate oak using long‐term, high‐frequency thermal infrared imaging. Canopies under elevated CO2 consistently exhibited higher leaf temperatures than those under ambient conditions.
