Aerosol particles on tobacco trichomes
Nature, 1974MARTELL1 has described a plausible chain of events by which atmospheric radioactivity is incorporated into insoluble particles that are deposited in the lungs of tobacco smokers. The subsequent long exposure of the lungs to alpha activity is a strong candidate for the cause of bronchial cancer.

Ecophysiology of leaf trichomes
Functional Plant Biology, 2016This review examines how leaf trichomes influence leaf physiological responses to abiotic environmental drivers. Leaf trichomes are known to modulate leaf traits, particularly radiation absorptance, but studies in recent decades have demonstrated that trichomes have a more expansive role in the plant–environment interaction.

Brassicaceae phylogeny and trichome evolution
American Journal of Botany, 2006To estimate the evolutionary history of the mustard family (Brassicaceae or Cruciferae), we sampled 113 species, representing 101 of the roughly 350 genera and 17 of the 19 tribes of the family, for the chloroplast gene ndhF. The included accessions increase the number of genera sampled over previous phylogenetic studies by four‐fold.

A 4 year-old boy presented an acute pruriginous dermatitis of the hands, forearms and abdomen. A skin surface biopsy revealed numerous trichomes, small prickles present on plants. These trichomes were those of prickly pears and stuck deeply in the skin, inducing an inflammatory reaction known as Sabra dermatitis.

Tea trichomes were regarded as an essential evaluation index for reflecting tea flavor quality in terms of aroma and influence on infusion color. This study reveals the impact of golden oxidized trichomes on the color, volatile and non-volatile metabolites of black teas through comparative metabolomics combined quantitative analysis on hongbiluo ...

Trichomes within the Plantaginaceae
Nordic Journal of Botany, 1992A survey of trichome types and their distribution within Plantaginaceae is presented based on a study of 112 species and 30 literary references. 14 different characters were distinguished, some are considered useful for phylogenetic studies. Stomatal types in 32 species are recorded.
