Tinea Pedis Caused by Trichophyton violaceum

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1983
This, to authors' knowledge, is the first report in the United States of Tinea pedis caused by Trichophyton violaceum in a recent Southeast Asian immigrant. Because of the recent entry into this country of refugees from an area of the world where T. violaceum is endemic, this anthropophilic dermatophyte may become a significant cause of dermatophytosis

An unusual presentation of Trichophyton violaceum infection

British Journal of Dermatology, 1977
A case with encapsulated Tricophyton violaceum abscesses in the skin is recorded. Defective cell mediated immunity was shown in the patient and his two cousins. This defect combined with malnutrition, hypoadrenalism and griseofulvin resistance gave unusual lesions and chronicity.

TRICHOPHYTON VIOLACEUM INFECTION IN AN INDIAN SCHOOL

International Journal of Dermatology, 1976
ABSTRACT: Trichophyton violaceum infection was found in 26% of 69 children attending a public boarding school. The possible source of infection may have been the adult women from the gypsy community discussed. Treatment with systemic griseofulvin and external sulphur salicylic ointment eliminated the infection in all affected individuals.

Freeze-etching observations of trichophyton violaceum

Medical Mycology, 1977
Trichophyton violaceum was cultured on a Sabouraud's dextrose agar slants for freeze-fracture replication. It was cryoprotected with glycerol and sucrose. The surface structure of the cell wall showed a rodlet pattern. Invagination-like craters were observed in the plasmalemma.
