Nasal trichosporonosis in 2 mixed-breed ewes

Journal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation, 2023
Two adult mixed-breed ewes were presented with a 2-wk history of upper respiratory disease. Both animals were depressed, with bilateral serosanguineous nasal discharge and harsh bronchovesicular sounds accompanied by crackles and wheezes on auscultation. One animal was recumbent and was euthanized at presentation.

Cutaneous manifestations in systemic trichosporonosis

Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, 1992
Trichosporonosis due to Trichosporon beigelii is increasingly recognized in neutropenic immunocompromised patients. We report the clinical and histological presentation of three cases, as well as a study of the prevalence of T. beigelii colonization of normal-looking skin in patients receiving intensive chemotherapy for cancer.

Disseminated trichosporonosis in a neutropenic murine model

Mycopathologia, 1993
Life-threatening disseminated infection with Trichosporon beigelii (trichosporonosis) is a rare mycosis most commonly seen in patients with hematologic malignancies made neutropenic by cytotoxic therapy. This infection is usually resistant to conventional antifungal therapies.

Trichosporonosis Presenting as an Exophytic Cutaneous Mass Lesion

Mycopathologia, 2020
Opportunistic fungal pathogens have increased in frequency with the growing immunosuppressed population. New and emerging pathogens, including the rare yeasts, continue to cause significant morbidity and mortality and frequently develop despite prophylaxis with antifungal agents.

Disseminated trichosporonosis: Meeting the challenge

European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases, 1991
The increasing incidence of opportunistic mycoses and its relationship to neutropenia was first noticed in the 1960s (l). During the subsequent decade, several institutions reported on the increasing occurrence of disseminated fungal infections in cancer patients undergoing cytotoxic Chemotherapy (2, 3).

Tri-Reg – A Europe-wide Study of Trichosporonosis

2014
Background: The incidence of invasive fungal infections is increasing in all parts of the world. Increasing numbers of immunocompromised patients are a major contributing factor. Less common emerging fungal pathogens account for significant numbers of these invasive infections. Invasive trichosporonosis[for full text, please go to the a.m. URL]

An autopsy case of disseminated trichosporonosis with candidiasis of the urinary bladder

Virchows Archiv A Pathological Anatomy and Histopathology, 1989
A case of disseminated trichosporonosis associated with Candida infection of the urinary bladder is presented. Coffee bean shaped or crescent shaped yeast-like elements are characteristic of Trichosporon and useful in differentiating Trichosporon from Candida but such histological features are less efficient than the immunohistochemistry in identifying
