METABOLIC STUDIES ON ADULT NIPPOSTRONGYLUS BRASILIENSIS (NEMATODA: TRICHOSTRONGYLOIDEA).

The Journal of Parasitology, 1965
N. brasiliensis contains 3.4% carbohydrate and 11.9% lipids (dry weight basis). Glycogen and trehalose each comprise about half the carbohydrate and both are utilized during survival in vitro. The parasites survive about 8 days aerobically and less than 24 hr anaerobically.

Genetic variability of Haemonchus contortus (Nematoda: Trichostrongyloidea) in alpine ruminant host species

Journal of Helminthology, 2009
AbstractGenetic variability of the ovine parasiteHaemonchus contortusfrom the Alpine area was investigated using mitochondrial DNA (nd4gene), internal transcribed spacers 1 and 2 and microsatellites, in order to assess whether cross-transmission between domestic and wild ruminants occurs.

Diversity of the rDNA ITS haplotypes of the nematodes Haemonchus contortus (Trichostrongyloidea, Rhabditida) of the same host

Biology Bulletin, 2013
Specimens sampled in Central Mongolia have been examined for the intraspecific polymorphism of the nucleotide sequences of ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacers (ITS-1 + 5.8S + ITS-2) of the parasitic nematode Haemonchus contortus. A considerable diversity of haplotypes differing in the nucleotide composition of this DNA region has been observed ...

The Spermatogenesis of Dictyocaulus filaria (Nematoda, Trichostrongyloidea)

The Journal of Parasitology, 1985
A cytological study was carried out, using male Dictyocaulus filaria, that revealed the diploid number of chromosomes was 2n = 11 and the sex determining mechanism was XO. The behaviour of the chromosomes in the different stages of meiosis was also investigated. Cross, open ring and rod bivalents were observed in diakinesis. The chromosomes appeared to

Cuticular Architecture of Hassalstrongylus epsilon (Nematoda: Trichostrongyloidea)

Parasitology Research, 2003
Hassalstrongylus epsilon is a small nematode, whose adult forms are found among the intestinal microvilli of the water rat Nectomys squamipes, Brants 1827 (Rodentia: Muridae). The external appearance of the cuticle, which presents transversal striations and longitudinal ridges, is described using scanning electron microscopy.
