Management of recurrent mechanical prosthetic tricuspid valve thrombosis in the perioperative period of noncardiac surgery: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2012
Introduction Mechanical valves in the tricuspid position may be prone to thrombosis with even brief lapses in anticoagulation. The management of patients with a history of recurrent mechanical tricuspid valve thrombosis who require noncardiac surgery is ...

Magneto‐responsive fibers and fabrics for soft systems

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
Abstract The combination of functional materials in fiber form has led to a surge in the integration of functional fibers and fabrics into soft systems that span sensing, communication, and actuation domains. A key subset is magnetic fibers and fabrics.

Transcatheter Tricuspid Valve-In-Ring and Aortic Valve-In-Valve Implantation

open access: yesThe Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgeon Reports, 2017
Background Transcatheter heart valve (THV) therapies have shown to be an alternative to surgical valve replacement, especially in high-risk patients requiring redo surgery. However, reports of transcatheter-based interventions in tricuspid valve position

Primary cardiac neoplasms: Coexistence of papillary fibroelastomas of the tricuspid valve and myxoma of the mitral valve

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2020
Both cardiac myxomas and papillary fibroelastomas are primary benign cardiac tumors, but it is very rare for tumors with different histologies to occur in different valves of the same heart. A 5-month-old infant underwent resection of a mitral valve mass

Diagnostic Accuracy of Shear Wave Elastography for the Assessment of Congestive Liver Disease in Patients With Structural Heart Disease

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
Shear wave elastography demonstrated moderate diagnostic accuracy for detecting congestive liver disease in patients with structural heart disease. Increased liver stiffness was associated with echocardiographic markers of venous congestion, supporting the concept that elastography may serve as a noninvasive marker of cardiohepatic interaction ...

Management of tricuspid regurgitation in patients undergoing mitral valve replacement for rheumatic mitral valve diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: In mitral valve diseases associated with long standing pulmonary hypertension,Tricuspid annulus dilates and fails to shorten during systole leading to Tricuspid regurgitation.Tricuspid regurgitation contributes to both the morbidity and ...

Novel Valve-in-Valve Transcatheter Systemic Tricuspid Valve Replacement in Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries [PDF]

open access: yes
A 41-year-old woman with history of situs inversus totalis, dextrocardia, congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries, and systemic tricuspid valve replacement presented with worsening of her baseline orthopnea and exertional dyspnea ...

A cadaveric study: “Measurements of tricuspid valve using cardiac sizer in the North Karnataka Region”

open access: yesIndian Journal of Health Sciences and Biomedical Research KLEU, 2017
Background: The right atrioventricular orifice is guarded by a complex called as tricuspid valve complex. The complex consists of atrioventricular orifice, annulus, leaflets, chordae tendineae, and papillary muscles.

Comparison of Intraoperative Doppler Flow Measurements and Algorithmic Flow Estimations in Patients Undergoing Durable Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Direct intraoperative HeartMate 3 LVAD flow measurements using an ultrasonic probe revealed consistently higher values by approximately 0.5 L/min compared to device‐estimated flows. This discrepancy remained stable across pump speed settings, highlighting the importance of distinguishing measured from estimated flow in HeartMate 3 patients.
