Saponins from Trifolium repens
Phytochemistry, 1992From the whole plant of white clover, Trifolium repens, five new triterpenoid saponins, designated cloversaponins I-V, were isolated together with four known saponins, beta-D-glucoronopyranosylsoyasapogenol B, soyasaponin I, soyasaponin II and azukisaponin II as their methyl esters.

Drought resistance of Trifolium repens × Trifolium uniflorum interspecific hybrids
Crop & Pasture Science, 2014White clover (Trifolium repens L.) is a widely used and highly valued temperate legume; however, its productivity and survival are restricted under dryland and drought conditions. This study investigated whether drought resistance of white clover could be improved by interspecific hybridisation with Trifolium uniflorum L.

A glabrous or glabrescent creeping perennial of indeterminate size, rooting at the nodes. Roots adventitious except for the tap root developed from the primary root of the seedling. Stolons up to 50 cm long, 1.9-4.0 mm in diameter; internodes up to 6 cm long.

Phosphoglucoisomerase variation in Trifolium repens
Genetica, 1986An electrophoretic survey carried out at the PGI/2 locus of white clover revealed the existence of five alleles. These alleles were shown to be controlled by single co-dominant genes, behaving in a normal Mendelian manner. The results also indicate that white clover behaves as an amphidiploid, in which one of its parental species is normally homozygous

Competition between cyanogenic and acyanogenic morphs of Trifolium repens
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1992To investigate the cost of the dimorphic cyanogenic system in Trifolium repens L., genotypes of the cyanogenic (Tc) and acyanogenic (Ta) morphs were grown in mixtures over a range of ratios and in pure stands at two levels of total density (low in a first experiment, high in a second experiment). The principles of the competition analysis employed were

Leaf Development in Trifolium repens
Botanical Gazette, 1966Leaf development is described quantitatively, with particular reference to rates and durations of cell division and cell expansion in the various tissues of the lamina and to development of the vascular system. From these data the following three hypotheses are suggested and are discussed in relation to the diversity in leaf structure between species ...
