First online operation of TRIGA-TRAP
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2020Abstract We report on the successful coupling of the Penning-trap mass spectrometry setup TRIGA-TRAP to the research reactor TRIGA Mainz. This offers the possibility to perform direct high-precision mass measurements of short-lived nuclei produced in neutron-induced fission of a 235 U target located near the reactor core.

Neural control for power ascent of a TRIGA reactor
2008 American Control Conference, 2008A basic control problem in a nuclear research reactor consists of increasing or decreasing the neutron power from a certain level R0 to a new desired level R1 and maintain the reactor stable at the new power level. For security reasons, this task must be performed in such a way that, during the power ascent, the instantaneous period of the reactor must

Determination of βeff for ININ's TRIGA Reactor
Journal of Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Science, 2020Abstract The value of βeff for Training Research Isotopes of General Atomics (TRIGA) Mark III reactor, belonging to the National Institute of Nuclear Researches (ININ), is reported. The TRIGA Mark III reactor core was simulated with MCNP6 to deduce the effective multiplication factor (keff) for critical state and after a small insertion ...

Implementation of an aerodynamic lens for TRIGA-SPEC
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2016Abstract We report on the optimization of the gas-jet system employed to couple the TRIGA-SPEC experiment to the research reactor TRIGA Mainz. CdI2 aerosol particles suspended in N2 as carrier gas are used for an effective transport of fission products from neutron induced 235 U fission from the target chamber to a surface ion source ...

TRIGA Soil Decontamination by Electrokinetic Method
9th ASME International Conference on Radioactive Waste Management and Environmental Remediation: Volumes 1, 2, and 3, 2003The experiment for removing cesium and cobalt from the contaminated soil around the TRIGA reactor in Korea using the electrokinetic method were conducted. To increase removal efficiency by the electrokinetic method, a device to restrain the pH increase in the soil column was suggested. An acetate buffer solution (CH3COONa+CH3COOH) was injected into the

Impact of a security event at a TRIGA reactor
Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2015Abstract The aim of this work is the study of the impact of security-related events and their consequences for research reactors, with particular emphasis on the off-site effects. The study case is done for the ENEA-Casaccia TRIGA RC-1 research reactor near Rome.

Analysis of the TRIGA Reactor Pool Water
1993Abstract : The reactor at AFRRI is a Mark F, 1 megawatt TRIGA (training, research, isotope, General Atomic) reactor. The reactor hangs in a cloverleaf- shaped tank that contains 15,000 gallons of demineralized water. The aluminum tank varies in thickness from 1/4 inch for the exposure room projections to 1/2 inch for the tank bottom.

Power peakings in mixed TRIGA cores
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2008Abstract Modern Monte–Carlo codes (e.g. MCNP) allow calculation of the power density distribution in 3D geometry assuming detailed geometry without unit-cell homogenization. The power density distribution (and its maximum value—the peaking) can be calculated ‘point-wise’ with the resolution of approximately 1 mm. Results of the detailed power density

Ultracold neutrons (UCN) at a TRIGA reactor
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1984Abstract Because of the unique characteristics of the super-thermal UCN source UCN intensities comparable to those achieved at high power research reactors can be obtained at a TRIGA reactor.

Archaeometry using the Cornell TRIGA reactor
Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry Articles, 1995A collaborative program between Archaeology and Nuclear Science and Engineering (NS&E) at Cornell University has been established. Neutron activation analysis using the 500 kW TRIGA reactor at NS&E is used to analyze Etruscan pottery samples from the excavations at La Piana, near Siena, Italy.
