Fatty acid esterification and chylomicron formation during fat absorption in rat: III. Positional relations in triglycerides and lecithin

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1965
Chylomicron triglyceride and lecithin obtained after feeding mixtures of three or four free fatty acids to rats were hydrolyzed using pancreatic lipase and phospholipase A respectively.

Diglycerides of Natural Phenols and Organic Acids for Enhanced Biological Activities

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Diglycerides of natural organic acids and phenols were synthesized regio‐selectively. Diglycerides are structurally similar to cell membranes and are expected to exhibit cell affinity and permeability. The flexible glycerol linkers allow the diglycerides to exhibit not only the physiological activities of each constituent organic acid but also the ...

Synthesis of Crosslinked Biopolyesters Catalyzed by Natural Amino Acids

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Highly crosslinked bio‐polyesters were synthesized via the ROCOP reaction between epoxidized sunflower oil and biobased cyclic anhydrides. The resulting materials were comprehensively characterized by FT‐IR, TGA, and DSC. A cross‐linked network in the bio‐based polymers has been confirmed by dynamic mechanical analysis.

Stereospecific analyses of several vegetable fats

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1966
The distribution of fatty acids among the positions 1, 2, and 3 of triglycerides of seven vegetable fats has been determined. The fatty acid compositions in positions 1 and 3 are very similar in most cases, but in none of the fats is the distribution ...

A hepatoprotective experiment on taro vegetable (Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott) flower employing animal models by mitigating oxidative stress

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The antioxidant efficacy of Colocasia esculenta flower’s methanolic extract was assessed using 2,2′‐azino‐bis‐(3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulfonic) (ABTS) and 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging assay. The hepatoprotective effect was investigated by assessing liver injury indicators (amino transferase [ALT], aspartate amino transferase [AST],

Lipin proteins and metabolic homeostasis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2009
The lipin protein family, consisting of three members, was first identified early this century. In the last few years, the lipin proteins have been shown to have important roles in glycerolipid biosynthesis and gene regulation, and mutations in the ...

Establishment of a novel alloxan‐induced rabbit model exhibiting unique diabetic retinal neuropathy features assessed via ERG + VEP

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Study workflow. Neuroretinal changes were observed in alloxan‐induced diabetic rabbits, while the retinal vasculature remained unaffected, indicating the successful establishment of a diabetic neuroretinal model. Abstract Background Diabetic retinal neuropathy (DRN) leads to significant visual impairment; however, no existing animal model fully ...

Lipoprotein lipase activity is required for cardiac lipid droplet production[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2014
The rodent heart accumulates TGs and lipid droplets during fasting. The sources of heart lipids could be either FFAs liberated from adipose tissue or FAs from lipoprotein-associated TGs via the action of lipoprotein lipase (LpL).
