The exact origin of fenugreek is difficult to ascertain as the plant has been cultivated since antiquity, about 4,000 BC. The plant is probably indigenous to eastern Mediterranean, West Asia and India. It has been grown as a traditional minor pulse crop in the Mediterranean area, Near and Middle East countries, India, NE Africa (Ethiopia), Arabia.
