On the Feasibility of a Tripler Upgrade for LHC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Recent developments in the performance of superconductors and the design of high-field superconducting dipoles have opened the possibility to extend dipole field strength to ~25 Tesla in the arc dipoles of a future hadron collider.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Reliability in 2-Dimensional On-track/Off-track Measurements: Analysis of Key Values for Glenohumeral Bone Loss

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine
Background: The relationship between glenoid bone loss and Hill-Sachs lesions (HSLs), which is known as the glenoid track, has been well described in the literature.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Predictive Value and Clinical Validation of the “On-Track” vs. “Off-Track” Concept in Bipolar Bone Loss in Anterior Glenohumeral Instability

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2015
Objectives: Bone loss is a well-described risk factor for failure with arthroscopic stabilization. The isolated importance of bone loss on both the glenoid and humeral side has been increasingly studied.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Transient analysis of magnetic frequency tripler.

open access: yesJournal of the Magnetics Society of Japan, 1987
The transient phenomena of a magnetic frequency tripler with the filter connected on the primary side are presented. From the results obtained by numerical analysis, the conditions which maximize magnetizing inrush current without the filter are clarified and the maximum among the peak values of magnetizing inrush current is presented. Reduction of the
