The contribution of aquaculture systems to global aquaculture production

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 54, Issue 2, Page 206-250, April 2023., 2023
Abstract Since 2000, aquaculture became well‐integrated into the global food system. Aquaculture systems are highly diverse, producing globally equal amounts of fed and extractive species. In Asia and Africa, inland aquaculture provides the bulk of aquaculture production, while in the Americas, Europe, and Oceania, marine aquaculture dominates.

Localization of 5S rDNA analysis of homologous pairing in tetraploid hybrids of red crucian carp (♀) × common carp (♂)

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 53, Issue 3, Page 714-723, June 2022., 2022
Abstract Interspecies crossing and allopolyploidization increase the opportunity for generating new breeding resources for fish farming. Allotetraploid hybrid fish (4nAT) were created by crossing red crucian carp (RCC, Carassius auratus red var., ♀) with common carp (CC, Cyprinus carpio L., ♂).

miR-199-5p regulates spermiogenesis at the posttranscriptional level via targeting Tekt1 in allotriploid crucian carp

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Biotechnology, 2022
Background Sperm abnormalities are one of the primary factors leading to male sterility, but their pathogenesis is still unclear. Although miRNAs are suggested to exert important roles in the regulation of spermatogenesis at both transcriptional and ...

Erythrocyte Profile of Diploid and Triploid Silver Crucian Carp (Carassius auratus) [PDF]

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Brno, 2006
Haematological analysis was performed on 27 adult specimens of Carassius auratus irrespective of sex in 2003 and on 32 juveniles of distinguished sex in 2004. In this study we found that the ploidy level affected significantly ( p < 0.01) the values ...

Organization and variation analysis of 5S rDNA in different ploidy-level hybrids of red crucian carp × topmouth culter. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Through distant crossing, diploid, triploid and tetraploid hybrids of red crucian carp (Carassius auratus red var., RCC♀, Cyprininae, 2n = 100) × topmouth culter (Erythroculter ilishaeformis Bleeker, TC♂, Cultrinae, 2n = 48) were successfully produced ...

Dietary Supplementation With Hydroxyproline Enhances Growth Performance, Collagen Synthesis and Muscle Quality of Carassius auratus Triploid

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
An eight-week experiment was undertaken to examine the effect of dietary hydroxyproline (Hyp) supplementation on growth performance, collagen synthesis, muscle quality of an improved triploid crucian carp (Carassius auratus Triploid) (ITCC).

Changes in growth performance, gene expressions related to protein absorption and hepatic metabolism of triploid crucian carp (Carassius carassius triploid) caused by dietary protein level

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary protein inclusion level on growth, protein absorption pathway and liver metabolism-related pathway in triploid crucian carp (Carassius carassius triploid).

Transcriptome Analysis of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) Eggs Subjected to the High Hydrostatic Pressure Treatment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Genomics, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
High hydrostatic pressure (HHP) causes depolymerization of the spindle microtubules. HHP applied to fish eggs prevents extrusion of the second polar body and inhibits the first cell cleavage, and it is used to produce triploids and diploid gynogenetic and androgenetic individuals.

[The genetic diversity of diploid and triploid crucian carp from six populations in Heilongjiang River System]. [PDF]

open access: yesYi chuan = Hereditas, 2009
Twelve microsatellite markers from silver crucian carp were used to investigate the genetic structuring of the diploid and triploid crucian carp from six natural populations in Heilongjiang River System. In the six populations, the number of average allele (A) is from 5.8 to 6.8, the number of effective allele (Ne) is from 2.8 to 4.6, the expected ...

Complete mitochondrial genome of a natural triploid crucian carp mutant, Carassius auratus var. pingxiangnensis, and phylogenetic analysis of different ploidies in crucian carp

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Research, 2014
Carassius auratus var. pingxiangnensis is a natural triploid crucian carp mutant. In order to understand its placement and genetic background at the gene level, the characteristics of mitochondrial DNA sequences and phylogenetic relationship were examined.
