Optimization of 3D‐Printed Structured Packings—Current State and Future Developments

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
This paper gives an overview about structured packing development for distillation, surveying heuristic development cycles, computational fluid dynamics simulations, and additive manufacturing techniques. The emerging application of shape optimization to improve packings is emphasized, and its benefits, impact, and limitations are discussed.

Topological interface modes in 3D-printed triply periodic minimal surface phononic crystals

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS)-based continuous structures have recently attracted increased attention due to their remarkable mechanical properties, such as high strength-to-weight ratio, impact resistance, and energy absorption capabilities. In

Topologically based curvature in thin elastic shell networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present a topologically-based doubly curved building system, based on a single bending thin plate element. The system extends Buckminster Fuller’s plydome research, by proposing an elastic formfinding technique through the introduction of ...

Biodegradable Dual‐Material 4D‐Printed Scaffolds With Tunable PLA/PEG Ratios for Mandibular Bone Regeneration

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the fabrication and application concept of biodegradable dual‐material 4D‐printed PLA/PEG scaffolds for mandibular bone regeneration. ABSTRACT In this study, biodegradable dual‐material 4D‐printed scaffolds with tunable poly(lactic acid)/poly(ethylene glycol) (PLA/PEG) ratios were designed, fabricated, and systematically ...

Triply periodic minimal surfaces for thermo-mechanical protection

open access: yesScientific Reports
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) metamaterials show promise for thermal management systems but are challenging to integrate into existing packaging with strict mechanical requirements. Composite TPMS lattices may offer more control over thermal and

Effect of Unit Cell Topology on Dielectric Properties of Periodic Lattice Materials Used for Functionally Graded Insulation

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Periodic lattice material (PLM) is an innovative material system capable of rapidly and efficiently constructing functionally graded materials (FGMs). Among various PLM structures, triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) exhibit numerous advantages, making TPMS‐based lattice materials a potential candidate to electrical FGMs.

3D−Printed Gradient TPMS Sandwich Structures: A Study on Bending Performance

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) sandwich structures are excellent lightweight load−bearing structures, yet existing 3D printing solutions focus on homogeneous TPMS lattices or their compressive behavior, lacking research on gradient−thickness TPMS

Establishment of Human Formative Pluripotent Stem Cell‐Like Cells Exhibiting Amniotic Differentiation Potentials

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
The hfPSC‐LCs could be established from naïve hESCs, conventional hESCs, hiPSCs, and human blastocysts. The hfPSC‐LCs hold robust capacity for three germ layers, hPGCLCs, and hALPCs. ABSTRACT Human embryos undergo pivotal morphogenetic remodelling shortly after implantation. The understanding of this crucial stage is severely impeded by the scarcity of
