Validation of the FASILA Score for Predicting Interventions and Outcomes in Traumatic Abdominal and Pelvic Injuries: A Prospective Clinical Study

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, Volume 49, Issue 7, Page 1951-1959, July 2025.
The FASILA score is a 7‐point scale comprising the FAST (focused assessment with sonography in trauma), shock index, and serum lactate. We aimed to validate this score prospectively in patients with abdominal and pelvic trauma to predict the need for massive blood transfusion, laparotomy, and inhospital mortality.

Evaluation of trauma and prediction of outcome using TRISS method

open access: yesJournal of Emergencies, Trauma, and Shock, 2011
Trauma and injury severity score (TRISS), introduced in 1981 is a combination index based on revised trauma score (RTS), injury severity score (ISS) and patient's age. In this study we have used TRISS method to predict the outcome in trauma cases.1000 consecutive cases of trauma of adult age group admitted in casualty of Dayanand Medical College and ...

Injury Severity Scoring in the Resuscitation Room—Is Preliminary Injury Severity Score Accurate?

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 69, Issue 6, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Background The Injury Severity Score (ISS) is a commonly used trauma assessment tool. An accurately calculated ISS is fundamental when used for the classification of the injury severity of trauma patients and subsequent evaluation of a trauma center's performance. This study aimed to analyze the accuracy of a preliminary ISS of trauma patients

Monitoring progress in major trauma care using TRISS. [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Emergency Medicine, 1990
We report on the outcome of major trauma patients brought to the Kent and Canterbury Hospital in 1989 and compare it with 1987. There is an improvement which followed changes in the management of serious injuries.

Metaphysics of risk and luck

open access: yesNoûs, Volume 59, Issue 2, Page 335-348, June 2025.
Abstract According to the modal account of luck it is a matter of luck that p if p is true at the actual world, but false in a wide‐range of nearby worlds. According to the modal account of risk, it is risky that p if p is true at some close world. I argue that the modal accounts of luck and risk do not mesh well together.

Developing a simple field triage scheme compatible with regional trauma situations and medical systems using machine learning: A nationwide trauma database study

open access: yesHong Kong Journal of Emergency Medicine, Volume 31, Issue 6, Page 408-418, December 2024.
Abstract Background and Objectives Trauma patients' characteristics and prehospital medical systems differ between countries. We aimed to establish a simple field triage scheme for identifying severe injury patients that reflect the regional features of trauma demographics and trauma management systems.

Use of artificial intelligence to support prehospital traumatic injury care: A scoping review

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Emergency Physicians Open, Volume 5, Issue 5, October 2024.
Abstract Background Artificial intelligence (AI) has transformative potential to support prehospital clinicians, emergency physicians, and trauma surgeons in acute traumatic injury care. This scoping review examines the literature evaluating AI models using prehospital features to support early traumatic injury care.
