Invasive insect genetics: Start codon targeted (SCoT) markers provide superior data to describe genetic diversity of brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, in a newly colonized region

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 10, Page 1097-1111, October 2025.
In this study, we assessed the genetic diversity of Halyomorpha halys, an invasive agricultural pest, in Türkiye using start codon targeted (SCoT) markers and mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) sequences. SCoT markers revealed high polymorphism (91.4%) and six genetic clusters among 71 specimens from 12 provinces, with Trabzon showing ...

Attraction of Telenomus remus to Egg Volatiles of Spodoptera litura and Oviposition‐Induced Plant Volatiles From Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2025.
The parasitoid T. remus was attracted to OIPVs and S. litura egg volatiles. At lower concentrations of 1 and 10 ng/μL the parasitoid showed the highest attraction. The binary combinations of linalool (L) with tetracosane (T) and linalool (L) with cis‐3‐hexenyl acetate (C) strongly attracted the parasitoids.

Identification of sex pheromone components in Trissolcus brochymenae females [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Insect Physiology, 2012
Long- and short-range sex pheromones appear to play a crucial role in the mate finding and courtship behaviour of most parasitic Hymenoptera. Yet these parasitoids have been rarely investigated and only a few pheromones have been identified. Recent studies have shown that sexual communication of Trissolcus brochymenae (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae), a ...

Prve najdbe štirih vrst jajčnih parazitoidov ščitastih stenic (Pentatomidae) v Sloveniji: Trissolcus scutellaris (Thomson, 1861), Trissolcus viktorovi Kozlov, 1968, Trissolcus festivae (Viktorov, 1964) in Telenomus chloropus (Thomson, 1861) (Insecta, Hymenoptera, Scelionidae)

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica

Effect of Pest Control Strategies on Arthropod Pests of Apple in Europe: A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 149, Issue 6, Page 957-987, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) is a major fruit crop in Europe. More than 200 phytophagous arthropod species thrive in European apple orchards, several of which are economically important pests. Due to the pest pressure on apple production, consumer demand for residue‐free products and current policies to make food production in the European ...

Inter and intra-guild interactions in egg parasitoid species of the soybean stink bug complex

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 2002
The objective of this research was to evaluate the parasitism behavior of Telenomus podisi Ashmead, Trissolcus basalis (Wollaston) e Trissolcus urichi Crawford (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) on eggs of Nezara viridula L., Euschistus heros F., Piezodorus ...

What is the potential for artificial selection of insect biological control traits? A systematic review of their genetic variation, heritability, and evolvability

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 6, Page 463-497, June 2025.
Growing interest in optimizing biocontrol traits, particularly due to Nagoya Protocol constraints, necessitates understanding their heritability and genetic variation. This systematic review of 5209 studies on arthropod biocontrol agents yielded 94 relevant articles, with 42 providing heritability values.

A remarkable new species of Trissolcus Ashmead (Hymenoptera, Scelionidae), parasitoid of eggs of Phloea subquadrata (Hemiptera, Phloeidae) in Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hymenoptera Research
Trissolcus adrianae Costa & Johnson, sp. nov. is described. It is an egg parasitoid of the neotropical bark bug Phloea subquadrata Spinola (Hemiptera, Phloeidae) on Plinia cauliflora (Mart.) Kausel (Myrtales, Myrtaceae).

From nature to nurture: Shifts in the gut microbiota of the brown marmorated stink bug under laboratory rearing conditions

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 5, Page 435-441, May 2025.
The gut microbiota composition of the invasive pest species Halyomorpha halys was compared between individuals collected in the field and reared in the laboratory based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Alpha and beta diversity change significantly from field‐collected to laboratory‐reared individuals and continue to change over the different generations of
