Genetic control of purothionins in wheat: problems of the aneuploid analysis when searching for regulatory genes

open access: yes, 1979
The study of the genetic control of purothionins in wheat endosperm illustrates some of the problems and pitfalls faced in aneuploid analysis of regulatory effects.

Microplastic and drought influence the positive effect of plant diversity on plant biomass production

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, EarlyView.
Microplastic and drought influenced plant diversity–biomass relationships in a glasshouse grassland experiment. Microplastic reduced the shoot biomass of grasses and legumes, weakening the positive selection effects. In contrast, drought strongly suppressed the shoot biomass of legumes, resulting in negative complementarity and a negative net diversity

The Effect of Farming Systems and Cultivars on the Qualitative and Quantitative Composition of Bioactive Compounds in Winter Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

open access: yesMolecules
Triticum aestivum L. subsp. spelta (cv. Rokosz) and common winter wheat Triticum aestivum L. subsp. aestivum (cv. Arktis, Belissa, Estivus, Fidelius, Hondia, Jantarka, KWS Ozon, Linus, Markiza, Ostka Strzelecka, Pokusa) grown in an organic farming system

Reduced microbiological contamination following irrigation of germinated seed for foods

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2018
Germinated seeds are rich in various nutrients but are vulnerable to fungal contamination which favours micromycete formation on the sprouts. The main aim of this work was an investigation of strategies to reduce the contamination of sprouted seed foods.

Mycotoxins‐contaminated wheat matrices bioconversion by Tenebrio molitor larvae (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Larval development time, ADG, survival rate and substrate consumption were not negatively affected by the levels of mycotoxins contamination Larvae excreted most of the ingested DON and its derivatives through exuviae and frass The mycotoxin accumulation rates observed in larvae were always below the current legal limits for livestock feed Abstract ...

An assessment of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes under saline and waterlogged compacted soil conditions, I: grain yield and yield components [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A pot experiment was conducted to study effects of salinity and waterlogging under soil compaction conditions on grain yield and yield components of wheat. Treatments were arranged in a factorial layout assigned to a randomized complete design with three

Russian wheat aphid: a model for genomic plasticity and a challenge to breeders

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Invasive foundress finds suitable habitat and reproduces through pathogenesis. Wingless females produce life offspring quickly, which leads to high population densities. High population densities result in competition, which may induce epigenetic changes and wing development for dispersal.

EVALUAREA REZISTENŢEI UNOR HIBRIZI AVANSAŢI DE TRITICUM AESTIVUM L. LA AGENŢII PUTREGAIULUI DE RĂDĂCINĂ ÎN CONDIŢII DE TEREN ŞI DE LABORATOR

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Moldaviae: Stiinte reale si ale naturii, 2013
Reciprocal hybrids (F5) of Triticum aestivum under field conditions manifested advanced resistance both of the parents or at their level for root rot agents and fusariose ear of wheat.

Influence of host plant and rice straw as substrate on mass multiplication of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi for large‑scale agricultural application

open access: yesInternational Journal of Recycling of Organic Waste in Agriculture
Purpose Rice straw is a waste product from the harvesting of Oryza sativa L. It is recurrently burned resulting in producing overheating, soil degradation, and air and water pollution.
