Analysis of tritium releases to the atmosphere by a CTR [PDF]
Removal by atmospheric processes of routinely and accidentally released tritium from a controlled thermonuclear reactor (CTR) was investigated. Based on previous studies, the assumed form of the tritium for this analysis was HTO, or tritiated water vapor.

Three 1‐D unsaturated zone models (HYDRUS‐1D with isotope fractionation) were calibrated with volumetric water content (θ) alone versus θ and δ18O δ2H from soil water. Adding isotopes constrains the parameter spaces and reproduces isotope profiles despite θ extremes, and reveals heterogeneous recharge in semi‐arid Tamil Nadu, South India.
