The modification landscape ofP. aeruginosatRNAs

open access: yes
RNA modifications have a substantial impact on tRNA function, with modifications in the anticodon loop contributing to translational fidelity and modifications in the tRNA core impacting structural stability. In bacteria, tRNA modifications are crucial for responding to stress and regulating the expression of virulence factors.

Phylogenomics and Biogeography of the Eastern Asian–Eastern North American Disjunct Genus Hylodesmum (Fabaceae)

open access: yesBiological Diversity, EarlyView.
Integrating data from plastid genomes, nrDNA, and 353 low‐copy nuclear genes, this study establishes a robust phylogenetic framework for Hylodesmum. This framework supports a taxonomic revision recognizing 18 species and reveals a complex pattern of bidirectional EA–ENA dispersal, with mammals as a plausible dispersal agent. Conserved 5-methyluridine tRNA modification modulates ribosome translocation

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences
While the centrality of posttranscriptional modifications to RNA biology has long been acknowledged, the function of the vast majority of modified sites remains to be discovered. Illustrative of this, there is not yet a discrete biological role assigned for one of the most highly conserved modifications, 5-methyluridine at position

One‐Step and Universal Strategy for the Synthesis of Hypermodified Uracil Phosphoramidites acp3U and cmnm5U

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
One‐step, highly efficient, and scalable synthesis of acp3U phosphoramidite is described, as well as a new alternative synthesis of cmnm5U phosphoramidite from a highly versatile intermediate. Latter could be scaled‐up, split, and aliquots turned simultaneously into cmnm5U, nm5U, and mnm5U.

tRNA and tsRNA: From Heterogeneity to Multifaceted Regulators

open access: yesBiomolecules
As the most ancient RNA, transfer RNAs (tRNAs) play a more complex role than their constitutive function as amino acid transporters in the protein synthesis process.

Recent Advances in Chemical Probing Strategies for RNA Structure Determination in Vivo

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
This Review illustrates how structural probes combined with advanced sequencing technologies are revolutionizing our ability to map RNA structures and interactions within living cells. It highlights the development of innovative strategies tailored to probe RNA structures in particular biological contexts.
