Dynamic Regulation of tRNA Modifications in Cancer
2018Transfer RNAs are decorated by chemical modifications of their nucleosides. These modifications affect all aspects of tRNA biology including translation and tRNA turnover. Interestingly, it was discovered decades ago that levels of modified tRNA nucleosides are changed in cancer patients and that the activity of modifying enzymes varies along with an ...

Quantitative probing of glycosylated queuosine modifications in tRNA
2021Queuosine (Q) in humans is a microbiome-dependent modification in the wobble anticodon position of tRNATyr, tRNAHis, tRNAAsn, and tRNAAsp. These tRNAs share a G34U35N36 anticodon consensus. In humans, the Q base in tRNATyr and tRNAAsp is further glycosylated to generate galactosyl-Q (galQ) and mannosyl-Q (manQ) modifications.

Conserved 5-methyluridine tRNA modification modulates ribosome translocation
2023ABSTRACTWhile the centrality of post-transcriptional modifications to RNA biology has long been acknowledged, the function of the vast majority of modified sites remains to be discovered. Illustrative of this, there is not yet a discrete biological role assigned for one the most highly conserved modifications, 5-methyluridine at position 54 in tRNAs ...

[18] Modification of tRNA's by bromination
1971Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the modification of tRNAs through bromination. Among the major bases in tRNA, uracil and cytosine are most susceptible to bromination at room temperature and pH 5.4. Guanine is much less reactive, and adenine is completely resistant to bromination under these experimental conditions, or when the reaction is ...

[17] Modification of tRNA with ethylenimine
1971Publisher Summary This chapter describes the chemical modifications of Escherichia coli B tRNA with ethylenimine, which inhibits the ability of E.coli B tRNA to accept certain amino acids. Exposure of unfractionated E. coli B tRNA to ethylenimine at pH 8.0 leads to the aminoethylation of SUMP and GMP residues, and the rate of alkylation of these ...
