Crickets of the genus Endecous (Orthoptera: Grylloidea: Phalangopsidae) are frequently found in caves, in some cases presenting strictly subterranean lifestyle. In addition to the morphological diagnostic characters of the group, bioacoustic and karyotype, also help on delimiting species. Here, we describe two new sympatric species of this genus, which

We describe oviposition site, clutch characteristics and breeding phenology of a population of Eurycea lucifuga, the cave salamander, from SE Missouri, to understand the impact of biophysical and biotic conditions on a troglophilic species. In the field oviposition occurred in underground rimstone pools over 6 mo, with most reproduction occurring from ...

Pseudonannolene ambuatinga n. sp. and Pseudonannolene saguassu n. sp. are described from individuals collected in limestone caves in the municipality of Pains, Minas Gerais, Brazil, which comprises a scenario of great conflict between speleological preservation and limestone extraction. The two species differ in their gonopod morphology and in size and

AbstractIntegrative taxonomy reveals a new troglophilic species of Schistura, from a cave‐dwelling population inhabiting stream draining (Barak–Surma–Meghna drainage) through the Krem (=cave) Mawjymbuin in East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. Morphologically, the new species is easily distinguished from its congeners in having a combination of characters ...

The fine structure of two types of glands in the feelers of cave Coleoptera Choleva spec. is described. Both gland types are exocrine and composed of 3 superposed cells: an apical cell or duct cell, an intermediate cell, and a basal cell. The basal cell is the main secretetory cell.
