Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to deliver a risk assessment on the likelihood of pest freedom from regulated EU quarantine pests, with emphasis on Bursaphelenchus xylophilus and its vectors Monochamus spp. of debarked conifer wood chips fumigated with sulfuryl fluoride as proposed by the United States (US) and

CTmax of F2 generation was significantly affected by F1 heat acclimation. Slower ramping rates recorded significantly lower CTmax than higher ramping rates. Both desiccation and heat acclimation reduced heat knockdown time. Abstract The Angoumois grain moth, Sitotroga cerealella (Olivier), is a significant cosmopolitan primary pest of cereals worldwide

Deltamethrin, α‐cypermethrin, and λ‐cyhalothrin provided high toxicity to Oryzaephilus surinamensis. λ‐Cyhalothrin and deltamethrin extended stop times; α‐cypermethrin reduced walks and increased climbing attempts. Insecticides did not affect the interval spent on food. Abstract BACKGROUND Mortality caused by various pyrethroids, and neonicotinoids has

Effects of extreme temperatures on the survival of the quarantine stored-product pest, Trogoderma granarium (khapra beetle) and on its associated bacteria [PDF]
Trogoderma granarium is a pest of stored-grain products in Asia and Africa, and a quarantine pest for much of the rest of the world. To evaluate extreme temperatures as a control strategy for this pest, I investigated the effect of high and low ...

In the current scenario of climate change it is interesting to know how alterations in temperature and humidity affects abundance of various arthropods. Sometimes, large arthropods remain undetected in unsuspected habitats such as bird nests. Experimental modification of temperature and humidity in nests of blue tit, Cyanistes caeruleus (Passeriformes:

Khapra beetle is a agricultural pest posing high global biosecurity risk. We show eDNA sampling of stored grain can detect ~1 khapra beetle larva in a 50 kg container of rice with 85% to >97% certainty (dashed line is 95% certainty level) depending on whether 1 (red) or 3 (blue) qPCR technical replicates are performed.
