Development and reproduction of four predatory mites (Parasitiformes: Phytoseiidae) feeding on the spider mites Tetranychus evansi and T. urticae (Trombidiformes: Tetranychidae) and the dried fruit mite Carpoglyphus lactis (Sarcoptiformes: Carpoglyphidae)

Systematic and Applied Acarology
The tomato red spider mite, Tetranychus evansi, a notorious crop pest, invaded New Zealand in 2020. In an effort to identify potential biological control agents for this species, we investigated the capabilities of four phytoseiid predators found in New ...

Tenuipalpidae (Acari: Trombidiformes) from Casuarinaceae (Fagales)

Zootaxa, 2014
The Tenuipalpidae associated with the Casuarinaceae are reviewed, including one new genus, Palpipalpus gen. nov., twelve new species, and seven redescriptions. Two new generic records for Australia are established, Pentamerismus and Philippipalpus. The new species are: Chaudhripalpus costacola Beard and Seeman sp.

Evolution of phytophagy in trombidiform mites

Experimental & Applied Acarology, 1999
This paper reviews the evolutionary aspects of obligate phytophagy (excluding mycophagy and phycophagy) in the mite suborder Trombidiformes. Phytophagy in the other acariform suborder, Sarcoptiformes, is limited to just a few species, amidst otherwise saprophagous or fungivorous taxa, that attack the living tissues of higher plants.

Morphological and mitochondrial genomic traits of Spinibdella lignicola (Trombidiformes, Eupodina, Bdelloidea) and evolution of Trombidiform mites from comparative genomics

Zoosymposia, 2022
Numerous trombidiform mites have been elucidated for their morphological features and mitochondrial (mt) genomes. However, the mitochondrial genomes of Spinibdella lignicola has never been described yet. In this study, we accounted for the morphological characteristics and complete mitochondrial genome of S.

The detection and frequency of two ectoparasitic mite species (Acari: Trombidiformes: Stigmaeidae & Microtrombidiidae) on field collected sand flies (Diptera: Phlebotomine) in Western Türkiye

Systematic and Applied Acarology
Mites are known to attach to and parasitize sand flies, potentially affecting host survival, development and reproductive capacity. In this study, we aimed to identify and report two mite species found on the field collected sandflies during a ...
