Conformation of Tropane Alkaloids
Nature, 1953IT has become generally accepted that cyclohexane compounds1 and pyranosides2 possess the chair conformation. By analogy we may assume that piperidine and its derivatives also exist in the chair conformation. Starting from this assumption, it is possible to determine the conformation of tropane alkaloids.

Tropane alkaloids and toxicity of Convolvulus arvensis
Phytochemistry, 1995Horses in a few, localized northern Colorado pastures exhibited weight loss and colic. At post mortem, intestinal fibrosis and vascular sclerosis of the small intestine was identified. The pastures where the affected horses grazed were overrun by field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis). Bindweed from the pasture was found to contain the tropane alkaloids
