Comparisons of trophic state measurements

Water Research, 1983
Abstract Twenty-nine methods commonly used to measure trophic state were compared with respect to their ability to rank 44 test lakes against two standards: total phosphorus, a nutrient or driving force standard and chlorophyll a, an eutrophication response standard.

Addressing the trophic status in urban ponds: An evaluation of current trophic state indexes

Austral Ecology, 2023
AbstractPonds are generally understudied. Quality problems in urban freshwaters can arise from eutrophication, and trophic status classification gives information related to their ecological situation. Ponds may strongly differ from larger lakes for which most current trophic status classification methods have been developed.

Trophic state analysis of inland lakes

Remote Sensing of Environment, 1976
Abstract The formulation of a trophic state index using remote sensing data is discussed. A multivariate analysis technique is applied to the data to formulate a trophic state index which combines selected indicators of eutrophication into a single numerical expression. Results are presented for a group of inland lakes in Southern Michigan.
