Trophic State of LaFarge Reservoir

A review is presented of three different methods used in analyzing the eutrophication potential of the Lake LaFarge Reservoir in Wisconsin. The trophic models examined include two computer models and one empirical model. The assumptions used in each model are described and the results of each modeling effort presented.

A numerical trophic state index for lakes has been developed that incorporates most lakes in a scale of 0 to 100. Each major division (10, 20, 30, etc.) represents a doubling in algal biomass. The trophic state of shallow lakes in The Netherlands
