Fuzzy estimation of trophic state using satellite data

2008 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence), 2008
Eutrophication is one of the major water quality problems in developing and developed countries. Generally, trophic state of water sources is under a strict watch and is determined by in situ water sampling for some important water resources. However, a limited number of water samples provide insufficient statistical confidence with an overall ...

Reservoir Zones: Microbial Production and Trophic State

Lake and Reservoir Management, 2002
ABSTRACT It is hypothesized that differences in the trophic states of three reservoir zones – riverine, transition, and lacustrine; i.e., change through space, can provide insights into the general eutrophication of the system; i.e., change through time.

TROPHIC STATE INDICES: RATIONALE FOR MULTIVARIATE APPROACHES

Lake and Reservoir Management, 1984
ABSTRACT Trophic state indices (TSIs) have been widely used to rank and classify lakes. Applications and limitations of TSIs are discussed, and types of TSIs developed previously are reviewed. An index is a summary statistic, and most trophic indices have been multivariate metrics, reflecting the complexity of the concept of trophic state.

Trophic state of the northern Adriatic

2013
The annual mean trophic index and efficiency coefficient were used to address the trophic state of the northern Adriatic in the last forty years. Differences in the efficiency of nutrients use between the western (more eutrophied) and eastern (more oligotrophic) part were identified at the beginning of the investigated period.

A dynamic lake model for trophic state prediction

Ecological Modelling, 1978
Primary production per unit lake area, ΣP, is selected as a measure of the trophic state of a lake. The relationship between phosphorus loading and ΣP is simulated by means of a dynamic, one-dimensional vertical diffusion model for phosphate [OP] and particulate phosphorus [PP]. ΣP is described by a non-linear function of [OP] and [PP] which takes into

A simple oxygen index for trophic state description

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 1991
Abstract The trophic state of a coastal marine ecosystem can be easily described by a simple oxygen index: Euclidean distance between the oxygen surplus at the surface and the oxygen deficit at the bottom. Basically, the oxygen index measures the oxygen inbalance within the water column which is a consequence of the growth and decay of organic matter;

Microglia and Trophic Factors in Neuropathic Pain States

2009
Neuropathic pain is a complex phenomenon and abundant evidence suggests it involves molecular and cellular physiological, structural and pharmacological changes within the peripheral and central nervous systems. Traditionally considered to be mediated by neuronal changes, it is now becoming increasingly clear that neuro-immune interactions are key ...
