A trophic state index for lakes1
Limnology and Oceanography, 1977A numerical trophic state index for lakes has been developed that incorporates most lakes in a scale of 0 to 100. Each major division (10, 20, 30, etc.) represents a doubling in algal biomass. The index number can be calculated from any of several parameters, including Secchi disk transparency, chlorophyll, and total phosphorus.

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2020
The relationships between nutrients and the trophic state of Borçka dam reservoir in the Çoruh River Basin, which is located in the Eastern Black Sea region of Turkey, were evaluated using the trophic state index (TSI), trophic level index (TLI), and statistical analysis.

Trophic state index (TSI) only considers the influence of phytoplankton excluding that of macrophytes. It is necessary to combine the contribution of macrophytes into trophic classification systems in waters with extensive growths of macrophytes.

Addressing the trophic status in urban ponds: An evaluation of current trophic state indexes
Austral Ecology, 2023AbstractPonds are generally understudied. Quality problems in urban freshwaters can arise from eutrophication, and trophic status classification gives information related to their ecological situation. Ponds may strongly differ from larger lakes for which most current trophic status classification methods have been developed.

Eutrophication of wetlands has been considered as a global level environmental problem due to wide range of environmental impacts caused by it. All the lake bodies are subjected to natural eutrophication process but anthropogenic activities like excessive utilization of inorganic fertilizers containing phosphorus and nitrogen in the farmlands which ...

A trophic state index for Laguna lake in the Philippines
International Journal of Water Resources Development, 1984Abstract A multivariate approach was used to develop a trophic state index. The index TSI(AVE), based on the four trophic state variables (transparency, phytoplankton, nitrate and temperature) was applied to Laguna Lake in the Philippines. The results indicated a hypereutrophic state of the lake.

Trophic State Index for Euphrates River Passing Through Samawa City
Asian Journal of Water, Environment and Pollution, 2022This study is conducted in order to investigate the trophic state index of Euphrates River flowing through the Samawa city. The present study includes monthly samples collected from three sites (S1: before the Euphrates river enter Samawa center, S2: is located in the Centre of Samawa city, S3: is located at the south of the second site) during the ...

A trophic state index for tropical/subtropical reservoirs (TSItsr)
Ecological Engineering, 2013Abstract Trophic state is an important property of the aquatic ecosystems as it reflects the anthropogenic influence on water quality and the ecological functioning of rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Trophic state indexes provide an insight on how nutrient and light availability controls phytoplankton development.

Assessment of Trophic Status for Nansi Lake Using Trophic State Index and Phytoplankton Community
2010 4th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering, 2010The present study was to investigate the trophic state of Nansi Lake, a shallow lake employed in the South-to-North Water Diversion Project in China. Based on water transparency, total phosphorus (TP) and chlorophyll a (chl a) concentration, the modified method of Carlson's trophic state index (TSIM) was applied to assess the lake's trophic status. The

AbstractIn running waters, apart from structural degradation, nutrient input becomes increasingly important. To investigate the indicator values of as many species of submerged macrophytes as possible numerous samples of the sediment within macrophyte stands and the overlying water were taken in running waters throughout Bavaria, Germany.
