A trophic state index for lakes1
Limnology and Oceanography, 1977A numerical trophic state index for lakes has been developed that incorporates most lakes in a scale of 0 to 100. Each major division (10, 20, 30, etc.) represents a doubling in algal biomass. The index number can be calculated from any of several parameters, including Secchi disk transparency, chlorophyll, and total phosphorus.

A trophic state index for Laguna lake in the Philippines
International Journal of Water Resources Development, 1984Abstract A multivariate approach was used to develop a trophic state index. The index TSI(AVE), based on the four trophic state variables (transparency, phytoplankton, nitrate and temperature) was applied to Laguna Lake in the Philippines. The results indicated a hypereutrophic state of the lake.

Using reservoir trophic-state indexes in optimisation modelling of water-resource systems
Environmental Modelling & Software, 2011Water quality is an important factor to consider when attempting to reconcile mathematical optimisation modelling with the physical reality of water-resource systems. In particular, when the greater part of water resources in supply systems comes from artificial reservoirs, as in Mediterranean regions, a simplified approach based on the attribution of ...

Trophic state indexes (TSI) guide management strategies regarding eutrophication control worldwide. Such indexes usually consider chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), total phosphorus (TP), and Secchi disk depth (SDD) as independent variables for estimating aquatic productivity and the degree of impairment.

A simple oxygen index for trophic state description
Marine Pollution Bulletin, 1991Abstract The trophic state of a coastal marine ecosystem can be easily described by a simple oxygen index: Euclidean distance between the oxygen surplus at the surface and the oxygen deficit at the bottom. Basically, the oxygen index measures the oxygen inbalance within the water column which is a consequence of the growth and decay of organic matter;

AbstractIn running waters, apart from structural degradation, nutrient input becomes increasingly important. To investigate the indicator values of as many species of submerged macrophytes as possible numerous samples of the sediment within macrophyte stands and the overlying water were taken in running waters throughout Bavaria, Germany.

Influence of land use on trophic state indexes in northeast Brazilian river basins
Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2019Eutrophication is a natural process within the ecological succession of aquatic ecosystems that results from nutrient inputs to water bodies, especially limiting elements such as phosphorus and nitrogen. However, the anthropogenic activities in river basin influence areas accelerate the eutrophication process of water bodies. Eutrophication is a global

Carlson’s Trophic State Index of Shatiya Wetland in Gopalganj District of Bihar
The Scientific Temper, 2021Wetlands are vulnerable ecosystems and under-valued despite their high utility to environment and economy which tells about emphasis on their management and conservation. The efficient wetland management requires monitoring of trophic status especially in summer season.

2011 5th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering, 2011
An investigation of the trophic state of Dongping Lake was carried out from May 2010 to Sept. 2010. Based on water transparency, total phosphorus (TP) and chlorophyll a (chl a) concentrations, the comprehensive trophic state index (TLI) was applied to assess the lake's trophic status.

Trophic state index of a lake system using IRS (P6-LISS III) satellite imagery
Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2010Water pollution has now become a major threat to the existence of living beings and water quality monitoring is an effective step towards the restoration of water quality. Lakes are versatile ecosystems and their eutrophication is a serious problem. Carlson Trophic State Index (CTSI) provides an insight into the trophic condition of a lake.
