Landfall Reorganizes Eyewall Boundary Layer Transport and Scale Coupling in Typhoon Hato (2017)

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 13, 16 July 2026.
Abstract Landfall reorganizes the tropical cyclone eyewall boundary layer (BL) through elevated surface roughness and reduced enthalpy fluxes. Using a 100‐m resolution nested large‐eddy simulation of Typhoon Hato (2017), we compare eyewall BL structures before and during landfall.

Tracing the Abyssal Water Pathways in the Indian Ocean

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 13, 16 July 2026.
Abstract Antarctic‐origin abyssal waters occupy a significant fraction of the global ocean volume and play a key role in deep circulation and ventilation, yet their volume is declining rapidly in a warming climate. Although the Indian Ocean (IO) contains a substantial fraction of these waters, abyssal pathways and upwelling in the basin remain poorly ...
