Accurately estimating the above-ground biomass (AGB) of high-density tropical rainforests is a challenging issue. In this study, airborne multi-baseline PolInSAR data were used to estimate the tropical rainforest AGB in Gabon, Africa.

Large palynological collections have been built over decades and contain vital information. However, they are often difficult to access and use effectively. What is the point of having such collections if they are not fully utilizable? To solve this problem, we digitized the Smithsonian palynological collection using both light and confocal microscopy.

Biological specimens housed in natural history collections are indispensable resources for documenting where species occur and how they have changed through time, and are thus vital for combating biodiversity loss. Digitization of these collections promises to make these critical resources globally available.

Tropical plane geometric constructions: a transfer technique in Tropical Geometry
The notion of geometric construction is introduced. This notion allows to compare incidence configurations both lying in the algebraic and the tropical plane. We provide sufficient conditions in a geometric construction to ensure that there is always an algebraic counterpart related by tropicalization.

Tropical analytic geometry, Newton polygons, and tropical intersections
In this paper we use the connections between tropical algebraic geometry and rigid analytic geometry in order to prove two main results. We use tropical methods to prove a theorem about the Newton polygon for convergent power series in several variables: if f_1,...,f_n are n convergent power series in n variables with coefficients in a non-Archimedean ...
