Large Tropical Cyclone Track Forecast Errors of Global Numerical Weather Prediction Models in western North Pacific Basin

open access: yesTropical Cyclone Research and Review, 2021
Although tropical cyclone (TC) track forecast errors (TFEs) of operational warning centres have substantially decreased in recent decades, there are still many cases with large TFEs.

RNA‐Micelles as Self‐Assembling Structures for Efficient Co‐Delivery of Synergistic siRNA and Nucleoside Analogues to Treat CRC Lung Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two kinds of self‐assembled RNA micelles were used to co‐deliver synergistic siRNA and nucleoside analogues for the treatment of colorectal cancer lung metastases. Near‐complete elimination of lung cancer metastases was confirmed in an orthotopic lung metastasis model constructed using human colorectal cancer lung metastases patient surgical samples to

PRELIVE: A Framework for Predicting Lipid Nanoparticles In Vivo Efficacy and Reducing Reliance on Animal Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
PREdicting LNP In Vivo Efficacy (PRELIVE) framework enables the prediction of lipid nanoparticle (LNPs) organ‐specific delivery through dual modeling approaches. Composition‐based models using formulation parameters and protein corona‐based models using biological fingerprints both achieve high predictive accuracy across multiple organs.

Decomposition of Carbon‐14 Labeled Plant Material Under Tropical Conditions

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, 1977
Abstract Ryegrass ( Lolium multiflorum ) and maize ( Zea mays ) tissue uniformly labeled with 14 C were mixed with soil and allowed to decompose under field conditions in the open or under shade.

Marine Entanglements: Tropical Materialism and Hydrographic Imaginary in Nnedi Okorafor’s Lagoon

open access: yeseTropic: electronic journal of studies in the tropics, 2022
In the epoch of the Anthropocene the environment is predominantly characterised by innumerable entanglements of matter. According to materialist theorist Jane Bennett, matter acts as a ‘distributive agency’ that intertwines itself with a “multiplicity of

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

Into the Woods: Toward a Material Poetics of the Tropical Forest in Philippine Literature

open access: yeseTropic: electronic journal of studies in the tropics, 2022
This study considers how the tropical forest as a material and discursive space mediates the ways in which history is imagined in Philippine literary texts and literary production. Mobilizing ideas from new materialism, material poetics, and tropicality,

Redefining Therapies for Drug‐Resistant Tuberculosis: Synergistic Effects of Antimicrobial Peptides, Nanotechnology, and Computational Design

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial peptide (AMP)‐loaded nanocarriers provide a multifunctional strategy to combat drug‐resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. By enhancing intracellular delivery, bypassing efflux pumps, and disrupting bacterial membranes, this platform restores phagolysosome fusion and macrophage function.

Evaluation of the Dual Impact of Nanotechnologies on Health and Environment Through Alternative Bridging Models

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores how alternative invertebrate and small‐vertebrate models advance the evaluation of nanomaterials across medicine and environmental science. By bridging cellular and organismal levels, these models enable integrated assessment of toxicity, biodistribution, and therapeutic performance.
