Comparison of point-of-care and laboratory troponin I assays

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2011
BACKGROUND In recent years a number of pointof- care troponin assays have emerged. There have been reports of discrepancies between the results of point-of-care and laboratory assays.

Troponin-I as a Prognostic Marker in Patients with Coronavirus Disease 2019: Insights from a Single-center Investigation

open access: yesCurrent Medical Issues
Background: Troponin-I is conventionally correlated with myocardial injury, but its relevance in assessing the severity of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and its implications for patient management remains an area of ongoing investigation.

Is high sensitive-troponin I a reliable biomarker for cardiac injury in methadone toxicity? A prospective cross-sectional study

open access: yesBMC Pharmacology and Toxicology, 2022
Background Methadone is a synthetic opioid mostly used for detoxification therapy, as its use increases; the possibility for methadone-induced cardiotoxicity may rise.

High-sensitivity cardiac troponin T and copeptin assays to improve diagnostic accuracy of exercise stress test in patients with suspected coronary artery disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: The average diagnostic sensitivity of exercise stress tests (ESTs) is lower than that of other non-invasive cardiac stress tests. The aim of the study was to examine whether high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) or copeptin ...

Crossing the Blood–Brain Barrier with Molecularly Imprinted Polymeric Nanocarriers: An Emerging Frontier in Brain Disease Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecularly imprinted polymeric nanocarriers (nanoMIPs) offer robust, antibody‐mimetic platforms to overcome the blood‐brain barrier. The article surveys nanoMIP design and ligand‐directed surface engineering that harness receptor‐mediated transcytosis, and highlights therapeutic and diagnostic applications in neurodegeneration, brain tumors and ...

Cats with thermal burn injuries from California wildfires show echocardiographic evidence of myocardial thickening and intracardiac thrombi. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Recent increases in the prevalence and severity of wildfires in some regions have resulted in an increased frequency of veterinary burn patients. Few studies exist regarding diagnostics and management of burn wounds in veterinary patients and current ...

OCTN2 Activates a Non‐Canonical Carnitine Metabolic Pathway to Promote MASH‐HCC Progression and Immunotherapy Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In non‐MASH‐HCC, L‐carnitine promotes tumor progression primarily through its classical role in enhancing fatty acid oxidation (FAO). However, in MASH‐HCC, where FAO is markedly suppressed, L‐carnitine shifts from this canonical function to serve instead as an intracellular acetyl group buffer.

Cardiac Troponin I Level before and after Elective Open Heart Surgery in Pediatrics

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2010
Background: Cardiac troponin I was found to be a sensitive and high specific marker of myocardial injury even in the pediatric population. This study aimed to elucidate the value of serum cardiac troponin I level after cardio-pulmonary bypass and effect ...
