Etude préliminaire sur l'utilisation de l'Aqui'S® comme anesthésique pour la manipulation et l'échantillonnage de truites arc-en-ciel (Oncorhynchus mykiss) et de truites fario (Salmo trutta)

open access: yesKnowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems, 1998

The role of developmental plasticity in eco‐phenotypic population dynamics

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Individual variation in development can strongly impact population density via its impact on demography. When this variation in development is caused by developmental plasticity, the resulting effects on population density are characterised as ‘eco‐phenotypic dynamics ...

Using of Quinoa Based Film to Extend the Shelf Life of Rainbow Trout Fillets under Cold Storage (4±1°C) Condition

open access: yesMarine Science and Technology Bulletin, 2019
In this study, the structural features (thickness and light transmittance) of edible films that obtained from quinoa starch were analyzed, and the films were applied to rainbow trout fillets.

Spawning of Trout [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1933
THE remarks in NATURE of August 26, p. 325, on the spawning of non-migratory trout raise some interesting points. In the Wiltshire and Hampshire chalk streams, an occasional trout is caught in September, which by its appearance is almost ready for spawning, but on these rivers spawning extends right up to the New Year.

Eco‐evolutionary responses of a cold‐water fish (Salmo trutta) to the combined effects of an emerging pathogen and temperature

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract How wildlife populations respond to the different components of global change and their interactions is still poorly understood. For instance, emerging pathogens can directly impact the genetic and phenotypic attributes of their hosts through directional selection or ...

SIMULATING PROTEIN DIGESTION ON TROUT A RAPID AND INEXPENSIVE METHOD FOR DOCUMENTING FISH MEAL QUALITY AND SCREENING NOVEL PROTEIN SOURCES FOR USE IN AQUAFEEDS [PDF]

open access: yesCroatian Journal of Fisheries, 1997
A novel in vitro digestion system, which simulated rainbow trout gastric and intestinal digestion was developed. The method was employed to evaluate the impact of the gastric phase of digestion upon degradation of three fish meals od differing quality ...

Host avoidance and resistance vary independently and are specific to parasite genotype

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Hosts may defend themselves against parasites by avoiding contact or by mounting a resistance defense after contact. This study shows that avoidance and resistance are highly specific across nematode host and bacterial parasite strain pairings, but avoidance and resistance do not covary across host strains.
