NM 22. Evaluation of coffee pulp in poultry: Digestibility and metabolizable energy

open access: yes, 2005
Forty-two roosters (Hy Line) of 32 weeks of age were used in a completely randomized design (6 treatments and 6 replicates) for the balance trials to estimate true dry matter (TDMD) and nitrogen digestibility (TND) and true nitrogen-corrected ...

Efficacy and safety of empagliflozin for treating neutropenia and neutrophil dysfunction in paediatric patients with glycogen storage disease type Ib: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Glycogen storage disease type Ib (GSD‐Ib) is a rare genetic disorder causing neutropenia and neutrophil dysfunction in children. G‐CSF has been the primary treatment, but emerging data support the potential of empagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, as a promising investigational option.

A comparison of two excreta collection techniques ( TRAY vs PLASTIC BAG) for amino acids digestibility and metabolizable energy determinations of rapeseed meals in adult cockerels

open access: yes, 1993
Two techniques of excreta collection (tray and plastic hag) were compared to measure true digestibility of protein (TDP), amino acids (TDAA) and true metabolizable energy (TME) of rapeseed meals, obtained from whole seed (WRSM) and dehulled seed (DRSM ...

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

True metabolizable energy of submersed aquatic vegetation in semi-permanent marshes for dabbling ducks in the upper Midwest [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Our primary objectives were to 1) estimate true metabolizable energy of common species of submersed aquatic vegetation in semi-permanent marsh habitats of the Upper Midwest for gadwall and mallards during autumns 2015–2017, and 2) use current and ...

From anthelmintic to neuro‐oncology: A systematic review of mebendazole repurposing for brain tumour therapy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim Mebendazole (MBZ), a benzimidazole anthelmintic with established clinical use, has emerged as a repurposing candidate for primary brain tumours due to its multimodal anticancer actions and central nervous system penetrance. This systematic review synthesizes preclinical and clinical evidence evaluating MBZ's efficacy, mechanisms of action ...

Endogenous melatonin partial metabolic clearance as a potential endogenous marker of CYP1A2 activity

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) exhibits substantial interindividual variability, necessitating appropriate phenotyping strategies for personalized pharmacotherapy. This study evaluated endogenous melatonin partial metabolic clearance (CLm(MEL)), calculated from urinary 6‐hydroxymelatonin (6‐O‐MEL) excretion and plasma melatonin (MEL) exposure, as a ...

Multi‐Scale Hybrid Modeling to Predict Cell Culture Process With Metabolic Phase Transitions

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To advance understanding of cellular metabolism and reduce batch‐to‐batch variability in cell culture processes, this study introduces a multi‐scale hybrid modeling framework designed to simulate and predict the dynamic behavior of CHO cell cultures undergoing metabolic phase transitions.

Thermodynamic Evaluation of Dual Substrate Growth

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Various C₁–C₂ compounds are increasingly available through electrochemical reduction of CO2. Although not always suitable as a sole substrate, these compounds can supplement a primary substrate like glucose to enhance microbial growth. Yet, the mechanisms underlying the effects of dual substrate consumption on growth rate and growth yield ...
