A novel true random number generator based on a stochastic diffusive memristor [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Memristors can switch between high and low electrical-resistance states, but the switching behaviour can be unpredictable. Here, the authors harness this unpredictability to develop a memristor-based true random number generator that uses the stochastic ...

True Random Number Generator Based on RRAM-Bias Current Starved Ring Oscillator

open access: yesIEEE Journal on Exploratory Solid-State Computational Devices and Circuits, 2023
This work presents a resistive random access memory (RRAM)-bias current-starved ring oscillator (CSRO) as true random number generator (TRNG), where the cycle-to-cycle variability of an RRAM device is exploited as source of randomness.

True Random Number Generator Based on Fibonacci-Galois Ring Oscillators for FPGA

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Random numbers are widely employed in cryptography and security applications. If the generation process is weak, the whole chain of security can be compromised: these weaknesses could be exploited by an attacker to retrieve the information, breaking even

DNA synthesis for true random number generation [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
AbstractThe volume of securely encrypted data transmission required by today’s network complexity of people, transactions and interactions increases continuously. To guarantee security of encryption and decryption schemes for exchanging sensitive information, large volumes of true random numbers are required.

True-Randomness and Pseudo-Randomness in Ring Oscillator-Based True Random Number Generators [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Reconfigurable Computing, 2010
The paper deals with true random number generators employing oscillator rings, namely, with the one proposed by Sunar et al. in 2007 and enhanced by Wold and Tan in 2009. Our mathematical analysis shows that both architectures behave identically when composed of the same number of rings and ideal logic components.
